Publisher's summary

Mississippi native Carolyn Haines writes spicy mysteries teeming with all the eccentricities of Southern society. Bones to Pick continues the adventures of sassy P.I. Sarah Booth Delaney.

Quentin McGee, author of a sensational exposé, has been murdered, and her lover, Allison, is charged with the crime. Sarah is hired to find the real culprit, but the investigation won't be easy. Quentin had so many enemies, including her own family and all those rich, powerful people mentioned in her book. As scandal brews, the suspect list continues to grow, and Sarah fears that the killer isn't finished yet.

Haines' Southern Belle mystery, together with a spirited narration, draws listeners into the heart of the Mississippi Delta.

great fun

I enjoyed this book immensely. The main characters were fun. The rhetoric reminded me of how some of my girlfriends and I talk. The story line was good albeit a bit predictable. Worth the time to listen.

Fun and light

Was this THE BEST book I've listened to? No, but it was fun and light and I enjoyed it! In fact, I'm getting the next Sarah Booth Delaney book to listen too.

More Than Murder

Enjoy another Southern cozy
with P.I. Sarah Booth Delany &
friends. A scandalous tell all
book reveals a wealth of secrets which lead to the author's murder.
Motives abound and the numerous guilty suspects make the identifycation of the killer that much more difficult. It's an action packed mystery made more enjoyable by the injections of humor and romance that Carolyn Haines
writes so well.

Love Humphrey

I love this story and particularly the entrance of Humphrey. Great character. Not sure about Sloan now. Hope this is more to come. Great series. Only minus could figure out who did the murder pretty early, but dialogue made up for it.

Good story again, but smacking sound interrupts the narration

Near the end (in the last couple of hours), the narrator starts to make a smacking sound at the end of her sentences. It was quite distracting. Curious!

Love this series!

I absolutely love this series. The characters are fun and full of life. I did get annoyed with the constant mooning over Sheriff Coleman Peters. Sarah Booth may love him, but she’s a much stronger character than to be constantly worried about the affections of a man. Other than that annoyance, I love how the story played out.

The chapters was out of order

It was skipping chapters and I am not sure if it was just recording incorrect or if I was missing part of the story?

Southern Stereotypes meets Bad Writing

The narrator was good or I would not have been able to stick this one out.

Beside the heroine obsessing on her sad lovelife, the family ghost obsessing on the heroine's lovelife and the heroine's best friend and PI partner obsessing on her lovelife, the mystery doesn't have a lot of room. Luckily it is a very thin mystery.

There was also some factual errors that were just due to sloppy research. For instance, it's been decades since anyone has had to go to Sweden for a sexual reassignment operation.
