About this listen

Bonnie and Clyde may be the most notorious - and celebrated - outlaw couple America has ever known. This is the true story of how they got that way.

Bonnie and Clyde - we've been on a first name basis with them for almost a hundred years. Immortalized in movies, songs, and pop culture references, they are remembered mostly for their storied romance and tragic deaths. But what was life really like for Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker in the early 1930s? How did two dirt-poor teens from West Texas morph from vicious outlaws to legendary couple? And why?

Award-winning author Karen Blumenthal devoted months to tracing the footsteps of Bonnie and Clyde, unearthing new information and debunking many persistent myths. The result is an impeccably researched, breathtaking nonfiction tale of love, car chases, kidnappings, and murder set against the backdrop of the Great Depression.

Superbly Written and Read

I found this book very enjoyable to listen to. Karen did a superb job of pulling together and presenting to us a most interesting yet credible version of their true story. And Gabra was the perfect person to read it. I loved it!

Great!

I haven’t read much on B & C, but this was a good start. Author gave insight into the lives of the people who died during this time.

Great Book

I enjoyed the perspectives from different sources which I never heard elsewhere. I also enjoyed the tone and flow of the narrators voice. However, it would have been perfect if music from that period and/or other audio clips (how automobiles sounded at that time, etc) were included. That is the only reason why I do not give the performance 5 stars. Very nice book!

Great and Informative Book about Bonnie & Clyde

This was a very good book. The narration is very good aa well. It must have been quite an undertaking, with so many accounts, and other records to go through. I appreciate all of the work done in the writing and narrating this book. Thank you.

Honest

The writing is simple yet compelling. One gets to see the dark side of man(and, woman). These two were little more than white trash psychopaths. It's shocking how easily they killed, yet viewed themselves as victims. The narrator was good. 5 stars

Nice Flow

There are a lot of books on Bonnie & Clyde. This is only the second one I read; first one being told by Blanche (direct knowledge/ family member), so this one seemed knowledge-lacking in comparison. It’s easy to find the same regurgitation of facts on Bonnie & Clyde, so all these books will sound the same in the end. I did enjoy the facts being spread out in a storyline with additional information of the time period. The story was well-done in the sense that it kept me entertained, despite not hearing any new information on Bonnie & Clyde that isn’t already available. The narrator did a great job! Her tone & flow was well done. A narrator can easily make or break a book when listening in audio. In this case, the narrator helped me appreciate the flow of the story.

loved

enjoyed learning about the story and gained a much better understanding of the timeline and how things that I've seen in multiple movies conflict with each other
