About this listen

When Brigadier General John "Dragon" Teichert took command of legendary Edwards Air Force Base, it was characterized by a choking complacency. It was operating on autopilot when it needed to be in afterburner.

It was at this hallowed ground of aerospace history where a different type of test took place, providing the ideal evaluation of a concept that transcended jet planes and rockets. It created a stunning culture of innovation, breaking the barriers of bureaucracy and dwarfing the innovation activity of the rest of the Air Force combined.

In this book, Teichert fuses the ubiquitous topics of leadership and innovation, written by a leader to leaders! It powerfully weaves together traditional leadership principles with unorthodox innovation tactics to spur success.

It is jam-packed with fascinating aviation analogies, little-known stories of Chuck Yeager, intriguing tales from the highest visibility base on the planet, internationally impactful activities in war-torn Iraq, and compelling real-life applications. It takes the listener along on a massively effective innovation journey while offering a roadmap for replication.

Inspirational and foundational, and useful to new and experienced leaders in every field.

John Teichert provides powerful insights into leadership that are both simple and profound. His presentation is lively and you can feel his passion throughout. In a crowded field of books on leadership, the retired Air Force brigadier general and fighter pilot does something unique. He inspires people to want to become better leaders, to use leadership to improve the world and the lives of others. Then he provides the tools needed to become a better, kinder and more thoughtful leader. Young leaders will find this book foundational. Experienced leaders will recognize some of its themes but still find it inspirational and instructive, especially as they take on the hard task of creating innovative teams. Boom! is expertly written and a great addition to an important field. Teichert’s voice is powerful, authoritative and welcoming and every actual and aspiring leader will benefit from his experiences, expertly related on every page of Boom!
