After the Indian Bill passes forcing Native Americans onto Indian Reservations, Davy Crockett leaves Congress determined to help them. Along the way, he tames a black bear he names Death Hug. He bottles Tennessee air, soil, and water, and together they take the long journey to visit his Native American friends. With a little help from Death Hug, Davy transforms the desert into a lush land so the Native Americans can resume their traditional way of life.
Bottling Tennessee is suitable for listeners six to 106. Everyone can enjoy a good tall tale!

Audiobook narrator J. Scott Bennett rating: 5 stars
This was a really fun short story about Davy Crockett as he transforms from Congressman back to frontiersman. While it is a tall tale, there is likely some truth to the history being that Crockett was a congressman and eventually left congress due to his disagreement of the Indian Removal Act.
I like how these folk heroes have become legendary and eventually have grown to larger-than-life type stories (tall tales). It makes for a good read and can teach some morals and lessons along the way.
This tale is the perfect length and I agree with the age limits of 6 to 106. I am going to see what my eight-year-old son thinks about it. Though, I feel like l may need to give him a little history on Davy Crockett first. I like how the end of the recording has an author’s note and mentions some Davy Crockett movies like King of the Wild Frontier. I wish my library or Amazon Prime would have some of these movies so I can show them to my son!
I really enjoyed the narration of this book. He did a great job of changing his voice for different characters, including the bear!
I hope this author write more Davy Crockett stories (or similar tall tales of past folk heroes)!
