Dr. Samantha Moore is one of the youngest and most acclaimed researchers in the world. Her specialty is blood, and she has been recruited by the largest pharmaceutical company in Scotland. For what purpose, she cannot begin to imagine, but in an attempt to break out of her painfully shy shell, she throws caution to the wind and leaves her family and best friend behind in Savannah.
Dr. Kade Gunnach is taking a chance hiring an outsider, but he’s desperate to find out how to help his sister. He believes the key lies in her blood, but so far, no one has found the answers. When the new researcher walks into his office, he’s unprepared for his reaction to her and the life-changing ramifications her arrival brings. They’re drawn together by a force neither is prepared for, but Kade is holding something back. Something that could scare her away.
When Samantha learns his secret, will she run?
Will Kade be able to live with the answers he’s been desperately searching for?

i love the uniqueness of this paranormal romance. I had never heard of an immortal that can't stand the heat. They have a colorful history dating back to their origins in Iceland. Kade Gunnach is CEO of a pharmaceutical company in Scotland, a place that stays nice and cold for the most part. Samantha is an American researcher, specializing in Hematology. Her arrival in Scotland to work for Kade. From the moment she lands life is filled with drama, danger, conspiracies, and romance.
The audiobook has a male narrator with a Scottish accent. That makes sense since most of the characters are Scottish. However, I will admit that i was disappointed in his attempts at female voices. It was the reason for the three star rating on performance.
Enjoyable listen to a great story.

Bound by Blood is the start of the Cauld Ane series. Samantha and Kade’s story is a unique one. Everything from when they meet, through the development of their relationship. And begins to set the stage for future books. I hope the narration of this series continues.
Love his voice

I gave this book 2 stars.... I technically should be lower if they had a point system on Audible. This book's only redeeming quality was the storyline. However, the writing was horrendous. So much potential, and the editor let this fly, such a shame. The good news is, I believe I found Nora Roberts ghost writer, if she had one, considering her latest trilogy. At least Nora's writings are a lot better (prior to her latest trilogy). Sorry I took a tangent... Moving on.
So many eye rolls in this story, and dialogue. First of all Samantha is a "doctor, research scientist", but acted like an uneducated 13 year old female, with a teenage attention span. Wasn't she supposed to do research to find a cure for the family's potential blood disorder, due to be nearly immortals? Nope , she was busy having teenage dialogue with a 600 year old Nordic/Scottish King (Kade), who is also a "Doctor". What is worse he was also written as a stupid imbecile. The story was supposed to be surrounding Samantha's ability as a brilliant research scientist. Not much going on the the lab. Samantha acted like a stupid 13 year old girl, with no brain cells. I blame that on the editor and author. I am fully aware this is a series, but if this is the first book, won't the next books be as bad?
Stupid wasteful sex scenes, and idiotic conversations between the hero and heroine. BLEH, This could have been developed so beautifully. Was this book written for teenagers or adults, or is this how we talk to each other? No wonder the world is a mess... oh I digress. Yes, this is supposed to take us away from our world for awhile, but a sad waste for potentially an interesting story. It was so poorly developed, and it could have been so much more.
Why couldn't this have been written by authors such as Diana Gabaldon, Dervla McTiernan, Danielle Steele, Emily March, Robyn Carr just to name a few.
Sigh... such a shame.
I seriously can't believe I even made it through the entire book. So much for hoping it will get better.
The narrator, not horrible, but not great. Maybe if they had Therese Plummer, It "could" have made it tolerable. ??
HA HA I am not laughing with the book, but at it!
