About this listen

Talitha Robinson is well on her way to completing renovations for her new bookstore, Beach Bound Books and Beans, in Lantern Beach, North Carolina. But when she hosts a friendly meet-and-greet with bookstore owners from nearby islands, the progress she’s making comes to a deadly end.

Someone is backstabbed—literally—right under Tali’s nose. To make matters worse, Tali’s fingerprints are all over the murder weapon and a neighbor claims to have seen Tali commit the crime.

Mac MacArthur knows Tali isn’t the type to hurt anyone, but it doesn’t take a former police chief to figure out things don’t look good for her. The two work together to read between the lines and decipher the truth before Tali gets locked away for crimes she didn’t commit.

As more evidence stacks up, it becomes clear that someone wants to take Tali out of the story. For good.

I could not finish it because the artificial intelligence reading was so distracting. Only got part way through the story.

Great Christy Barritt stories about Lantern Beach characters BUT the AI narration made me cringe at times. You just can’t beat a good human narrator. It would send me running back to reading books instead of audio which is a tragedy because I love Audible!!!

Stay away from AI narration

This was such a monotone, boring reading of this book. Virtual voice was terrible. A real human voice with inflections and emotion and voice changes would’ve been a whole lot better.

Worst narration ever… virtual voice

Poor choice to choose AI. No emotion and can’t get into the story. Why take away from the experience? Having a human read is more valuable than you know. The AI voice made your work seem flat and blah. You are a good author and it is so fun to hear Patricia santimaso read your stories.
