About this listen

In this humorous sci-fi adventure, someone is stealing information from a top secret government project. The "leak" is discovered and a celebrated FBI agent is sent to stop it. He finds that telepathy seems to be the method used to steal the information but how do you catch a telepath? The answer seems to be with other telepaths. The agent he sets out to find telepaths to help him. Unfortunately, most are quite insane. Then he finds a telepath who seems quite rational except that she insists she is Queen Elizabeth the First. Is this white haired little old lady and her telepathic ability the key to solving the crime? Or is she just crazy? Mark Phillips was one of the pen names of prolific science fiction author Gordon Randall Garrett. He wrote this unique tale with the help of his friend, Laurence Mark Janifer. The book was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1960.

Shockingly bad

This title offered some promise from its description, but it was shockingly bad both in terms of story and narration. The story reads like an 8th grader's scribblings, with no character development, a ham-fisted plot, and extremely poor use of language ("i was naked as, as I told myself, a jaybird."). The narrator was no better, using a wooden delivery and terrible accents, particularly his idiot-JFK rendition of the protagonist's boss. This is a must-avoid.
