About this listen

Should falling in love really get in the way of your lifelong dreams?

Sebastian Saunders is 3,000 miles away from home. Working for his father’s expanded business in New York, he's left behind the music career he craved, the friends he relied upon, and possibly the love of his life. In a city that never sleeps, how can the nights cure a broken heart?

Jay Ruttman is in London, throwing himself harder into football and his quest to make it on the professional playing field. Locking himself back in the closet, how can he ever open the door, and his heart, again?

A chance encounter in New York where Jay and Seb rekindle their lost romance sets them both on a path to self-discovery and coming to terms with their past, their present, and their future.

This is the second part of the District Line serial, where half-time oranges are swapped for the Big Apple.

A very satisfying HFN – but more is coming.

Break Through is book 2 of 3 in The District Line series. When I read book 1, I didn't realize that there was a cliffhanger but I was OK with that because I knew the series was complete (in ebook format). I was grateful that C.F. White gifted me with an Audible code for book 2 so I could continue listening rather than reading the ebook copy I had already bought. This one has a satisfying HFN but I'm still looking forward to reading or listening to the final book, Come Back.

The blurb is good so I won't repeat it. This book started off just a bit slow for me but I think it's my fault because I was listening while I was doing something else. As soon as I was able to concentrate fully on this story, I quickly became engrossed in what was going on with Seb in the U.S. and Jay back in London.

There were some pretty sad things happening but overall, I thought the story was pretty uplifting. Like I said earlier, there was a very satisfying HFN but I'm glad there is still one more story to come.

Sweet continuation & 2nd chance

I really enjoyed getting more of Jay & Seb's story. It was a little slow moving and a HFN ending but looking forward to the next installment! Narration is dome well though the New York accents amuse me. I truly hope we dont dound like that lol.

Good middle of a trilogy

I was totally sucked in by CF White's writing again and, of course, my need to know if Jay and Seb could find their way back together. This is definitely a middle book and ends in a HFN cliffhanger of sorts. You *could* stop here... but why would you?

White writes an especially compassionate, funny, and poignant "coming out" scene with Jay's family.

Piers Ryman is a good narrator. I had a little difficulty with his American accents, especially the women - but those take up so little of the story it wouldn't keep me from listening to him again. He does Jay & Seb so well that it's totally worth it. His voice for Stephen is spot-on smarmy.

Amazing

This was a great extension to Jay and Seb’s story. I love there’re love and how they fight to be together. I hope there is more of Jay and Seb’s adventure to come. The narrator was great.

The Footballer and the Rock God

Oh how I love Seb and Jay. Their push and pull love story, spanning across the pond and back, giving up fortunes and coming out of closets for each other, is the stuff of fairy tales. Their love is enough to make you swoon.

Jay and Seb

Loved seeing what had happened since Seb moved to New York. We meet Seb's mum and find out that Web had repressed his memories of her, and that she wasn't allowed to see Web after she left, Sebs father is a piece of work, cutting Seb off everything just because he is in love and wants to be with Jay not in New York is despicable. Glad they get together

And so it continues...

So this picks up right where book 1 left off.

While there are times when I wanna strangle Seb. I love how he and Jay made a conscious decision to fight for their love and their relationship. There's still angst, doubts and struggles, but it's all balanced out by the love, the support of secondary characters and a bit of a comeuppance for those who deserved it. lol.

Piers' narration was good, however, the American accent sounded a bit weird.

breakthrough

This story reunites Jay and Seb and there are many upheavals in their lives to come. Jay had a lot of courage to come out to his family and Seb to leave his monied father and crazy ex!! Steve finally got karma. I liked how supportive Jay's family was. Ann and Seb together were hilarious! I liked the support the team showed. I think the band mates tough love for Seb was the best thing at the time!! The ending left me with a feeling of peace and hope. I voluntarily listened to a free copy and am giving an honest review . The narrator did a great job.

A nice continuation

Okay, first, DON'T READ THIS ONE IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST. It wouldn't make any sense, as it is a direct continuation from it.

That said, I liked it, although less than the first one. And it's still all about Seb, who is SO weak and so immature... Argh! I spent most of the book wanting to shake him and scream at him: Grow up, already!

Jay is great and very sure of who he is and what he wants, and he is a joy to read.

So, all in all, I enjoyed it, and a big part of it was because of Piers Ryman's excellent job with the narration.

An amazing sequel!

The author really explores Seb and Jay as characters.

We get to see them moving forward with their lives, their passions and their dreams

I like how everything played out. There was angst and so much emotion!

This was an amazing sequel and I dived right into this obe after book 1.

The narration was enjoyable and engaging!
