I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who is interested in ghosts because of the excellent narration paired with a plethora of marvelous ghost sightings across the UK. It is amazing how many roads across the UK are haunted! I was glued to this well-written book for the duration. I love how it was geographically organized according to regions of Great Britain (including Wales, Scotland, and Ireland). Some of the stories were even witnessed by reliable people such as policemen or road construction workers.

This collection of short tales are very entertaining and give me ideas for where to visit and which places to avoid in Britain. I particularly want to visit the ghost of the gentlemanly highwayman with a sense of humor. Other chilling stories of ghostly apparitions causing vehicle collisions make me want to avoid those particular roads. There are actually two different phantom buses and two different headless horsemen in Britain! Fascinating stuff.

The narrator Peter McGiffen did a remarkably wonderful job. He has a lovely English accent with great enunciation and a pleasant rumbling in my ear like a purring tiger. He was also really good at assorted accents during the ghost stories that had dialogue from ghosts or witnesses. He has great pacing too.

This was a good book. The stories were chilling and it’s a good list of places. I wish there were more stories. Throughout the book we hear about different places and only a few of them have the story of what is seen and the history of who may be haunting the place. A lot a repetitious words and phrases used throughout, but the narrator has an amazing voice. He was a tad slow for me so I did speed him up a bit, as it is my personal preference. I’d like to hear some of the others from this series.
