A Masterfully Told and Performed Memoir
Terry Stone’s Broken at Birth is a deeply moving and powerfully written memoir that takes listeners on an unforgettable journey of identity, resilience, and self-discovery. One of the book’s greatest strengths is its ability to weave multiple timelines seamlessly, jumping back and forth in time rather than following a traditional chronological structure. This storytelling approach keeps the listener engaged while delivering the emotional depth that makes the story so impactful.
What truly elevates this Audible experience is the outstanding narration by Patty Stone. Her ability to effortlessly shift between characters and emotions makes it feel like a full-cast performance rather than a single narrator. At times, I had to remind myself that this is a true story about real people, as her delivery is so immersive and compelling—it feels like experiencing a play rather than listening to an audiobook.
Patty Stone’s talent brings every moment to life, making the highs more joyful and the lows even more heartbreaking. She captures the raw emotions and depth of the story in a way that few narrators can.
This is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates beautifully told memoirs, expert narration, and stories that stay with you long after they’re finished. Highly recommended!
