Publisher's summary
The only thing hotter than the weather south of the Mason Dixon line are the boys. Worn, faded blue jeans, slow southern drawls, and those naughty moments in the back of pickup trucks a girl never forgets.
Welcome to the world of the Sutton boys. Five brothers who fight, party, and drink a little too much, but, more importantly, they love their momma. Nothing can tear them apart...except women. Especially a redheaded beauty with secrets. No one truly knows her...not a Sutton boy...and not Dixie Monroe. Scarlet North smiles on the outside, but inside her damage runs deep.

Story
A small town where pickup trucks rule, the farmer's market is bigger than the grocery store, and just about everyone goes to church on Sunday is the last place Henley Warren expects to find herself three months after her grandmother's death. But Gran left a list of things she needed Henley to do after she died, and fulfilling those wishes means spending a summer in the same place her mom fled from when she was only seventeen years old. With each task that is ticked off the list, events are set in motion that uncover secrets surrounding Henley's life.

Story
Hughes Farm was the largest racing-horse establishment in the South. The family that owned it was known to be wealthy, powerful, arrogant, and terrifying. My first encounter with them didn’t prepare me for all that was to come. I don’t think anything truly could have. Growing up with only my father and brother hadn’t been easy, but we’d had each other. Losing them was the hardest thing I’d ever faced. It had made the times we went without food, electricity, or even shelter seem insignificant in comparison.

The day her mother passed away, Beulah was only given a name. That was it. No other explanation. Portia Van Allan was not someone Beulah could believe her mother ever knew. Wealthy, self-absorbed, and other than the fact Portia was supplying special care for Beulah's sister, Portia was cruel. The day Portia's son returns home for the summer, Beulah discovers that Portia isn't in charge. This isn't her home at all. Her late husband left her with nothing. It all belongs to their son, who doesn't seem to like his mother at all.

I used to pray that I'd find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora. The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England. Deep down, I always knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned...but I hadn't expected to see him again - especially not like this.

Pine River was supposed to be a new start for me. And it was, especially attending school with my three overprotective cousins, who were the triplets at the top of the social hierarchy. Except they weren’t alone there, and the first day when I came to school, I saw him. Scout Raiden. Tall. Lean. Tattooed. Mesmerizing. He was a golden god with dark and piercing eyes—looking like he wanted to eat me up. The feeling was mutual, and that was a problem.

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

It was supposed to be a harmless kiss at a lavish debutante ball. A clandestine moment with a handsome stranger. But unlike his namesake, my Romeo isn’t driven by love. He’s fueled by revenge. To him, I’m a chess piece. Leverage. His rival’s betrothed. To me, he is a man deserving of poison. A dark prince I refuse to marry. He thinks I’ll accept my fate. Well, I plan to rewrite it. And in my story, Juliet doesn’t die. But Romeo? He perishes.

Brothers South of the Mason Dixon
Ok, I enjoyed the book maybe a little more than the first because I knew the character. And I wanted to know how it was going to work out.
I love Abbi’s style of writing, and I loved that she had all the brothers involved. And again I love their momma.
I guess what I don’t get was why there was a Diesel at all. We didn’t really need him. Scarlett and everything that was going on with her was enough of a storyline without adding in this Diesel fella.
I think this story was genuine and different but I think the ending was rushed and I wished it hadn’t been.
I liked the narrations, took a little bit for me to like Patrick as Bray but once I got into his way of narrating it was all good.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Great story
Book 2 is a great follow up to book 1 Boys South of the Mason Dixon. This has been in my library for a while and I'm glad I finally read it. Scarlett and Brey have a great storyline. Abbi Glines did a great job with this one. While I was reading it I kind of guessed what Scarlett's story was but I like the way it came out and the direction it took once she realized that Brey found out. It was just an all around good story that makes you want to finish it.

Just another doormat
I did not like this story. The hero was a man whore and the heroine was a doormat. She was damaged and acted tough but ending up doing was was told. She knew he slept with anyone. Her inner dialogue was good but her actions were dumb. If you like this kind of characters, this one is for you!
