Useful, interesting, and easy to digest!

I hate talking about finances, but I learned a lot from this book and actually enjoyed learning about it! It got me excited about my future and made me feel more confident about what I can accomplish with my partner. I would highly recommend listening to it together as a couple so that you can learn and grow together through the book. It felt natural for my partner and I to discuss what we learned at the ends of particularly interesting chapters, and some really incredible conversations came from it. I wasn't totally sure at first who the target audience was, but the book is well crafted so that couples at a variety of stages and financial situations can learn from it. I also really appreciated that the example scenarios didn't make any assumptions about gender norms in the relationship.

A must have

I have learned so much! Most couples fight about money and that eventually leads to divorce ! This guide will help you avoid that plus more !

Good info BUT!!! Careful about the credit tips

I’m still midway however I just heard something alarming I wanted to point out!! While a lot of the info is great, one thing Nora doesn’t mention when it comes to closing credit card accounts is the impact that closing them may have on your credit score depending on how long your history is with that credit card. Once closed, all the on time payment history associated with it will be lost which typically makes up 15% of your credit score and closing an old account may lead to lowering your score inadvertently. The same can be said when you finally pay off your car loan or mortgage. Closing old credit card accounts is a rookie mistake I see a lot when I’m working with clients as their realtor. Although it’s great to minimize debt this way, you may not realize how closing an old account can drop your score. Weigh your options and keep older accounts whenever possible

I’m getting this book for all my kids

As a mom of young adults just starting to enter into serious relationships, I’m glad this book exists. this book talks about the reality of managing your finances for couples, and gets to the heart of the matter...that money is one thing, and behaviour is another. So important in relationships to set expectations, to communicate. Awesome!

Financial Intimacy

There is, and should be, room for 2 people in the financial planning relationship...love this concept! The author talked about degrees of involvement and the impact transparency has in managing finances with your partner. Having participated in time management and various diet programs helped me look at finances with new insights. I appreciate the concept of logging your expenses, much like you log your food and time in other programs ...because change only comes with awareness.

Informative with cute anecdotes

I listened to this book with my long-term girlfriend while on a long drive. We both learned a bit about topics we were unfamiliar with, and found that the "date night" discussion ideas sparked good conversations about our respective financial plans. I would recommend this book for couples who are exploring a possible future together and want to break the ice on the important financial decisions you may make together (buying a home, having kids, etc).

Practical and motivating !

Very relevant topics discussed in this audiobook: spending, budgeting, investing...
Very clear explanation with short quiz or questions at the end of each chapter, which gives couples matter/ specific action steps. I especially enjoyed the sections on good and bad debts, as well as on the compound interest - I've found it explaine very well .
Last thing: I appreciated the reality check, feeling comfortable to discuss money and budgeting with your partner will take time ad require consistent work.
I do recommend for any couple serious about refining their budget plan !!
