Great story
some of the characters are a bit unrealistic. like what woman is drinking beat while pregnant when they are written as a responsible mother? but the ai is the worst. it makes a good story hard to listen to. the inflection is flat and instead of say 50 cal gun it will read 50 calories or 50 california. it gets hard to follow if you're doing other things while you listen. male characters are written well but again the female characters not so much.

Great action and characters.
The story is good, because the characters could easily be you and me. Over the course of the first two books, the the tension of a pending world war builds until the various groups, two of them traveling a suddenly dangerous Southwest and attempting to meet up, encounter the problems refugees always face trying to find safety. But these refugees are also planning to find the good guys and fight back. This is complicated by a radically liberal government in power over an America of citizens being killed by the same foreign forces that the government has privileged over their own people. The problems we all are facing right now, of a government that puts America last, vigilante nutbag militia, good militia, states considering leaving the Union, unsecured borders, and having to distinguish one group from another, threaten to overwhelm our ability to defend ourselves as a nation.

right-wing book
This book is a right-wing gun nut's wet dream. Because Texas can end a full on terrorist and the federal government would be totally cool cool and even help the invading terrorists... l like I said NRA ass kissing, you might like it if your in to that kinda bs.
