About this listen

Entrepreneurs, go the distance with an endurance athlete’s formula for success: the grit to start, the stamina to finish, and the balance to live fully along the way.

Taking a company all the way through scale-up to a successful exit is a grueling, long-haul endeavor, a special kind of endurance sport. Get a competitive advantage by learning the secrets of the masters of sustained performance: endurance athletes.

In Built to Finish, Steven Pivnik takes you on two journeys: leading his software and services company, Binary Tree, from inception to successful exit and his quest to compete in the IRONMAN® World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Steven shares how the insights gained from his adventures in triathlon, mountaineering, and ultramarathons apply to anyone’s pursuit of long-term personal and professional success.

Steven Pivnik is a serial entrepreneur specializing in the information technology market and advises other founders and entrepreneurs looking for corporate growth and a successful company exit. Steven has competed in over twenty triathlons, numerous marathons and ultramarathons, and is on track to scale all “Seven Summits,” the highest peaks on each continent.

This book is a truly inspirational read that resonates on a deeply personal level. Pivnik's journey from being an immigrant from the former Soviet Union to achieving remarkable success is a testament to the power of perseverance, hard work, and an unyielding belief in one's potential.

As someone who connected with his story of overcoming adversity, I found his insights and experiences incredibly motivating. Pivnik has a unique way of making readers feel that greatness is within everyone's reach, regardless of their starting point. His advice isn't just practical—it’s infused with a sense of hope and determination that stays with you long after you've turned the last page.

This book is perfect for anyone looking for a spark of inspiration or the tools to push through challenges. It left me feeling empowered, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone striving to accomplish great things in their own life.

Being an endurance athlete (Ironman, Mountaineer, Stair Climber, Cold Water Swimmer etc. etc.) and business owner this book was both written for me and to an extent about me! I see myself in the author. What makes the book so valuable is that a book creatively and effectively tells stories and uses metaphors to remind us all of important business lessons that are easy to forgot, such as the idea that cash is as important to your business as oxygen is to your high mountain climbs!!!! Great quick read for entrepreneurs that want to become endurance athletes and vice e versa. PS I wish the author had the read the entire book…
