About this listen

Listening to the Bible will change the way you understand scripture. The stories and poems and instructions comes in through the ears and consume your whole being as God's word becomes part of a living experience. The Common English Bible is not simply a revision or update of an existing translation. It is a bold new translation designed to meet the needs of Christians as they work to build a strong and meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A key goal of the translation team was to make the Bible accessible to a broad range of people; it’s written at a comfortable level for over half of all English readers. As the translators did their work, reading specialists working with 77 reading groups from more than a dozen denominations review the texts and read them aloud to ensure a smooth and natural listening experience. Easy readability can enhance church worship and participation, and personal Bible study. It also encourages children and youth to discover the Bible for themselves, perhaps for the very first time.

Who Is It For? The Common English Bible is committed to the whole church of Jesus Christ. To achieve this, the CEB represents the work of a diverse team with broad scholarship, including the work of over 120 scholars - men and women from 24 faith traditions in American, African, Asian, European, and Latino communities. As a result, the English translation of ancient words has an uncommon relevance for a broad audience of Bible readers - from children to scholars.

The biggest downside of this edition is the poor navigation. The audio book chapters are chapters of the Bible, but there is no easy way to locate a particular book.

A good reading of the CEB.

What did you like best about CEB Common English Audio Edition with Music? What did you like least?

Positive: The readers seem good.
Negative: There is no way to know which book you are in. The Books and chapters are not listed at all.

Was CEB Common English Audio Edition with Music worth the listening time?

It will be worth listening to if the books and chapters can ever be indexed. I will still listen to it but can't use it to follow the lectionary.

Any additional comments?

I hope they find a solution to this concern and make this a more usable download.

No Chapterization but seems like a good reading

It’s an excellent reading of the CEB but it sometimes has background music that is as or nearly as loud as the words. Still solid if you want to listen scripture on your way to work

Good most of the time

I hadn't checked my copy in a while. It seems they listened and fixed the navigation issue. Chapters and books are now identified beyond Ch 1 to actually naming the book and chapter. Thank you Audible!

Edit: The only part that doesn't seem to have gotten chapters is part 5. Somehow that is still showing only generic label of "Chapter 1" instead of book names and chapters.

Poor Navigation Fixed!

It is almost as if they went out of their way to make the least interesting and most pedestrian Bible translation ever. Every reader will have his own of the worst verse, my favorite was the use of 'you have God's DNA' in 2 Peter.
