About this listen
No one who worked for Dr. Kate Winter believed in coincidences.
A package had arrived from the country Clay and his team had planned to launch the most important clandestine investigation they’d done since meeting each other.
The package opened with ease. A flash drive was inside a protected unbendable sleeve.
Kate didn’t know where the scene was filmed, but it wasn’t the United States. She recognized the man on the screen. No guess required. A shot of President Richards and two other men who were laughing.
A whimper. The camera panned to three young girls huddled in the corner... Kate paused the video. Her mind was somewhere else. Her dear friend was making the most important speech of her life.

Senator Rosa Bennett continued. She was just getting started. “...Did you realize African American women are three to four times more likely to die during or after delivery than White women? If you’re a White woman in your twenties, you have a better chance of a healthy baby than if you had a child in your teens. There is evidence that suggests Black women ‘may be less healthy at twenty-five than at seventeen...’”

“There is information being circulated with impeccable sourcing about what President Richards is doing on his private trips,” Kate said. “I can vouch there is damning video the president would not survive if the public was aware.”
The vice president’s intake of air was audible. She’d been surprised and couldn’t hide the fact.
“You didn’t know?”
A pause. “No.” The Vice President Palmer was blunt. “The president won’t like the scrutiny, and he has allies who can make your lives uncomfortable...”
