Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Asher Donovan is a living legend—the darling of the Premier League, the (arguably) greatest footballer in the world. But his reckless antics and recent team transfer have caused much controversy, and when his feud with his rival-turned-teammate costs them a championship, they’re forced to “bond” during off-season cross-training. Surviving the summer shouldn’t be hard…until Asher meets their new trainer. She’s beautiful, talented, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t take his mind off her.

Mostly Enjoyable
What did you like best about Call Me Silver Daddy? What did you like least?
Overall story was good, but I wasn't crazy about some of the narration. Also, the narration needs a bit more editing. There are some spots at the beginning and another 1 or 2 later on where narration is repeated (like the narrator was trying to say it a different way) - this should be cleaned up, as it was distracting.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The characters seem to bounce between really trusting/caring about each other and doubting each other - several times throughout the course of the story - I think this could have been handled better.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
One of the main characters (Steve) vacillates between sounding gruff and whiny. This was annoying and I never felt like his voice really fit the character. And some of the narration just seemed a bit uneven - delivery was over the top at times and didn't feel natural to the story.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
More/better communication between the 2 main characters. Too often they seem to be getting comfortable with each other then one would discover something and fly off the handle without talking it out. Fine at first, but got tiring as it continued. Felt like an 'easy way out' to show unresolved conflict.
Any additional comments?
For the most part, I did enjoy the story, but part of me felt that narration took away from some of the enjoyment. This one may have been a better read than a listen for me.

Good!
I totally love the story between James and Steve. It's what you could expect from Jeff Rivera. The angst, passion, the sexiness the taboo! Who doesn't want a silver daddy! LOL! Know about the narration. It took me at least a few chapters to get into the story. At the beginning then a raider talk too fast and I'm not saying that the speed was fast, it's more debt he didn't make any pauses or necessary one in between sentences. Because it was in the first few chapters, it made it difficult to go back to the story each time I have to hear it. After maybe the fourth chapter it's when everything settles down a bit. He does that a few times in between chapters but because I have to it at the beginning, by that time I was accustomed to it. I didn't like it that he did it but overall it wasn't bad.

Did That Just Happen?
Okay, did I just hear the narrator, in the middle of reading, stop and cough and then find his place and then start the sentence over again?

needs editing
I'm not going to say anything about the narrator's voice what I will say is that the editors didn't even listen to this.... mistakes that were not removed during editing in the first few chapters put a bad taste in your mouth but overall an okish book

Hot story
This book had some serious hotness! 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
The love scenes were a kinda kinky, very explicit, and the narrator was very expressive☺....The characters were decently developed for a short story, and rather endearing. The narrator however wasn't hitting high marks outside of those sexy scenes. The sentences seemed to run together. It was like he was in a bit of a rush to get thru the book.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review

An OK book
I have to admit that I have read and enjoyed better books. while there is nothing overtly wrong with this story it just wasn't my style alot of it has to do with the abuse angle. It was well written and performed very well.
I did receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Rather melodramatic, but okay
This story had a soap opera-ish plot and made me roll my eyes every time a big secret was revealed (and there were several). I had some issues with the relationship - the big age difference + coach/student dynamic, lack of trust and communication, etc. But the story held my attention and kept me entertained as I did my chores - so as part of the Romance package, it was worth the listen.
The narration didn't work for me ... the narrator didn't match the story, he sounded too old (grandfatherly), Eeyore-ish and his "Silver Daddy's" voice was too gruff/Muppety. There was a particularly awkward patch at 14:10-14:50 with repeated lines and a throat clearing that was clearly not part of the story and should have been sound edited out. Also, the sex noises were over the top/campy and made me giggle sometimes. Initially I thought this would be a DNF for me, but upping the speed to 1.30x helped improve the narration so I could get into the story.

Editor Needed
Don’t know how good the book was because it doesn’t appear as if the editor did their job. Couldn’t get past the first chapter.
