The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Love it !
I listened to this audiobook, and I really liked it. I wanted to take my kids camping for the first time, but I didn’t know how to start. This audiobook helped me a lot. It gave me simple tips on what to pack, how to plan meals, and how to keep the kids happy. It felt like talking to a friend who has done this many times. Made camping sound more Fun
I’ve always loved the idea of camping with my family, but honestly, getting everything organized can feel overwhelming. I always felt like it was too much work for what you get out of it. But this book made it so much easier! It covers all the essentials from building a fire and setting up a tent to meal planning and staying safe around wildlife. I especially loved how it includes fun activities like plant identification and wildlife conservation to keep the kids engaged while learning new skills. Plus, the packing list is a lifesaver. I feel way more confident about taking the whole family to go camping this summer.

So Glad I Had This!
I never thought l'd say this, but I like camping and I owe it to this audiobook! When my husband and grandson begged me to go, I was dreading it. Sleeping outside? No running water? What if a bear showed up?! But I didn't want to be the one to ruin their fun, so I decided to give it a try because I had this book! It walked me through everything, Packing, setting up camp, dealing with nighttime fears (mine, not just the kids'!), and even what to do if you do run into wildlife. It was all in there. I felt prepared instead of panicked. Because of this book, I was actually having fun! Watching my grandson learn new skills, sitting around the campfire. Turns out, it's kind of magical.

Brought back my love...
I was a girl scout and I loved everything about camping and outdoors and learning how to tie knots and best practices. This book brought back all the love and gave me more insight on how I can still enjoy the love of the outdoors as I did as a child, now with my child! I was intrigued by some of the facts I had forgotten or not even know. This book is a must read for camping and the outdoors with children!

Doesn’t have to be a military operation!
I love how London Webb starts the tips with one of the first being finding a camp site with easy trails, potential amenities, and more, and then goes on to outline how to create a detailed itinerary that everyone can be on board with (I loved how lounging and storytelling sessions were mentioned here!). I really loved how the author offers up so many ways to have an awesome time that includes meal planning (good old fashioned campfire stew is mentioned here!), prepping, and even goes so far as to remind us of waterproof gear. HINT: A stash of snacks are also great for avoiding grumpy campers! In addition, the first thing I noticed was that the narrator was great and so perfect for this title.

Lifesaver
Whether you are planning a trip to the backyard(like me) or going to go on a real camping adventure, this is a great guide. The guide is practical and includes info on everything from packing to meal planning and all things between. One of the best tips in my opinion was the "busy bag". I have actually got a busy bag in my car now. Camping should be fun and light. This book helps you have a good time but be prepared for everything.
