We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

A healthy guide
When I was little my grandmother used to grow fresh produce in the garden and then either store it, or turn it into jams, preserves, and pickles. Somewhere along the way we have lost the art of canning and preserving food. This audiobook helps anybody wanting to make healthy, home-grown food go further. It outlined various techniques in a way that was easy to understand. It also talked about the gardening year and which crops you could grow and harvest in your home during the different months of the season.

informative and engaging
This was a very informative book on canning, which was also engaging to listen to. very seldom did I find the informative given to be dull or repetitive. that being said, it would be very easy to get to any specific chapter that suits you best and get every bit of information needed. I am excited to dive into some these recipes provided and put into practice the information inside. even just storing simple fruits or veggies, I did not know that I was storing some of my foods wrong, I usually get home from the store and simply throw them in the fridge. I am excited to see how my food stores better from now on and to begin a pickling adventure. a great read, beautifully written. amen.

Grow and preserve your own foods
I so much appreciated the author's point to grow and preserve one's own foods, and stay away from supermarkets and long ingredients lists printed on labels. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. This audiobook offers valuable tips on how to grow and keep your own food so know what you eat and stay healthy year round. Highly recommended.
