Publisher's summary

Friends to lovers? There’s a lot to consider, a lot to hope for, and a lot at risk in a steamy and emotional romance by the bestselling author of Can’t Resist Her.

Peaches Monroe and Jamie Hunt are core members of their Texas friend squad and have so much in common. They’re successful at their careers in personal care. They take Austin’s “Keep It Weird” vibe to heart, each leaning into their own unique talents and sense of style. And they’re both ready to go on to even bigger things. Is pushing past the boundaries of friendship into something deeper one of them? The red-hot fantasy is there…but so is real life.

Jamie’s college dreams will take her far from her hometown. She’s already road-tripping to possibilities from San Antonio to Houston. And Peaches has obligations of her own. Not only is she planning to expand her business, but she’s taking care of her family after her mother’s passing, leaving her overwhelmed and under pressure.

No matter how perfect Jamie and Peaches are for each other, is this the right time for romance? Finding their true selves comes first. Only then can they hope to pursue a future of lasting love—together.

The Narrator is brilliant but the dialogue could use some work

I loved the variety of voices used by Tamara, really made listening enjoyable. Sometimes the dialogue felt dated and unreal.

The Narrator is one of the best I've listened to!

I liked the story and loved that all the characters had depth and intelligence. What took it over the top was the narrator! Such distinction between the characters... male, female and non-binary. When the narrator switched characters, you knew exactly who it was. None of that muddled one voice that just went higher or lower.

Cute story!

The author clearly loves the color orange! Lol. Honestly, this was a cute little story. It was refreshing to see black lesbians portrayed as business owners and people with lots activities and happenings that weren’t solely “Hood/Ghetto”. I truly enjoyed the storyline. The writing could’ve been a little more developed, however, it was well thought out, and all conflicts will resolved within the story and a reasonable manner. It made for a good read.

Peaches?!

Ms Thang's attitude was something to deal with, and I don't mean Peaches'. Sometimes relationship are work. I'm glad it all worked out and help was sought when needed. Personal preference... a name swap between Peaches and Taylor. 😂

I loved how they used Austin, TX

I loved how they showcase college and success. it showed a real emphasis on black female advancement. I also appreciated the building of desire before each sex scene. Overall I loved the book.

Can't Let Her Go

Wow! New-to-me author and I just wanna 👏👏👏👏

Got this book on a whim because I liked the cover (yes, I do judge books that way) and was more than pleasantly surprised!! The story was so good - a funny, heartwarming, witty romcom. The writing was fantastic! Peaches and Jamie are fiery together...I mean 🔥🔥🔥

And let me talk about the MCs for a minute. They're both smart, driven, strong, and caring women. Actually, their whole friend group is all of those things. Wonderful characters - from amazing friends to difficult family members. It was a well-rounded, truly enjoyable story!

Tamara Austin did a wonderful job narrating! She really brought the characters to life!

Rushed with no Resolution

How do you write a GLARING relationship problem and then gloss over it with no resolution? They moved on (and in) way too fast from something so significant. There wasn't enough conversation with friends and we never got to the root of a few issues. The writing was rushed and so many storylines opened and left hanging.
Also, the narrator pronounced so many words wrong, it became annoying.

Not what I hoped for…

This was my first lesbian novel and I ended it feeling disappointed. I live in Austin and appreciated the Author making reference to the city. So much so that I walked away with a few new places to visit. Unfortunately, it got to the point where I felt as though it was too heavily laced with Austin context.

The storyline was decent but I craved more steamy scenes and the voice of Peaches was okay. I’d love to listen to another title with more than just one narrator.

Ehh

I want to like it but the dialogue was super boring and predictable. I would not have believed it was written in 2023 it gives early two thousands.
