Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

terrible narration
I couldn't get past the robotic voice. Had to finish the book by reading it.

Rollo and his boys the perfect clan
This story is really good and the characters believable with all the normal insecurities and human flaws. I guess we all look for love and acceptance. Both Rollo and Winn feel the pain of loss and even tho they want to feel loved they also fear it. Who wants to get hurt again?
The only problem I have is the computer generated narrative. Basically it may have sounded like a live person but it just felt like someone was reading the book without the human emotions and voice fluctuations. Even when I read a book I feel the masculinity and strength of the male characters. So if you're going in this direction at least give us a dual narration.

Robotic. Not Realistic!!
The automated voice stood out - and not in a good way. It devalues the book to have a computer read it, even if it is cheaper.

Virtual voice
Didn’t realize this was a virtual voice book. It was very robotic sounding. Other than that the story was pretty basic and it didn’t seem to have a lot of substance to it. It was just a quick read, so I guess for that it lands in the middle with 3 stars for me.

Loving the series. Just hate they didn’t get more answers from Fredrick, but Marvin the next book. And what a happy family with 2 girls in the mix.
Love the author and the virtual voice is ok but would like a human voice to be able to have different tones in the different people.

Needs Real Narrator!
Great story and I loved the characters. Virtual narrator was horrible. This audible would have been so much better with a real narrator.

Narrator
Omg I can’t stand this narration. I have to stop. I can’t do it. The narration. Is the worst. Computers aren’t for books. Very disappointing. I don’t want anything to do with this author. I liked the story. But I’m so disappointed I won’t even give this author any of my time or money. 😡🤬

Ugh! Virtual Voice!
Story was good, But hard to listen too. The Virtual Voice was so monotonous, it was so hard to get thru the sex scene with
Hearing the soft female voice talking for both leads saying in a flat tone, “ he groans” and other things. You couldn’t tell if she or he was talking without using the persons name. Not even tempted to listen to anything else, because Virtual Voice ! Uggggggh!
