Publisher's summary

Merman Rigel the Hunter has prayed for an end to his people's curse. Immortality has come with a high price - loneliness. When a beautiful human female - Lyra Harne - is thrown into the ocean, her fate is in his hands. Unable to deny her, he saves her, but at what cost? Living in the lost city of Atlantes, women are rare and this sexy mortal is more than this hard up warrior can resist.

Is the beauty Rigel saves a gift from the gods? Or just another part of their curse? Temptation and desire are no match for fate, and the truth of Lyra's shipwreck just might prove too much for this underwater affair.

Great read, lots of fun!!

Captive of the Deep by Michelle M. Pillow is the 3rd installment in the Lord's of The Abyss series.
I really enjoy this under the sea world that the author has created. Rigel and Lyra have been my favorite couple so far and I loved that this story explained more about the Silla that are hunted. Excellent audio narration and just a great quick read!!

Rigel and Lyra

Rigel is a hunter on the same team as his bothers Brutus and Demon. He rescues Lyra from a ship sunk by another Scylla. When she awakens, she is not happy to be in Atlantes. She is even unhappier when she finds that she can never leave. She is angry with the Merr, and Rigel in particular because she believes they killed her family. Can Rigel convince her otherwise? They are attracted, but will Lyra ever feel about Rigel the way he feels for her? This is another exciting story in the Lords of the Abyss series. There is danger, mistrust, and a lot of steam. There is also new and interesting information about the Scylla, and a surprise at the end that that may affect all of Atlantes in the future. I enjoyed Rebecca Cook’s narration.

Loved

Rigel is merman that saved Lyra from a shipwreck. She finds it hard to adjust to her new home under the sea. She was so bitter about the shipwreck and the thought of her family drowning , yet she still lived. It took patience and understanding from Rigel to get Lyra to open herself to others and her heart to him as she learns of new circumstances. They do have hot steamy encounters and eventually love.
There's a lot of negative emotions dealt with in this book, there's anger, hatred, and sadness, but with patience and understanding all of it was turned around to acceptance and love.

Lyra and Rigel

Book 3 of the series. Can easily be read as a stand-alone, but you will get more out of it as part of the series. Each book builds more and more of the back story of Atlantis. This is the story of Rigel and Lyra. Rigel, a hunter, saves Lyra from a ship wreck, caused by Scylla. Lyra rails against the injustice, and fears her whole family perished in the wreck. Contains some pretty steamy scenes. I enjoyed the story, and look forward to the next one. Narrator did a good job, felt the voices were distinctly different.

Another Great Addition to the Series

Michelle M. Pillow has done a great job with this third installment of the Lords of the Abyss series. The characters were well written and endearing while the story line kept my attention. The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life and made this a fun listen.

The Origin of the Scyllas

Captive of the Deep is about Lyra and Rigel's story. Lyra was the third woman that the Mers have saved that day. Lyra wasn't pleased about being rescued by the Mers while her father and brothers drowned. Since her rescue, Lyra has been giving the Mers the silence treatment. It was the Mers' fault that her family is dead.

Her attitude changes when she walked in on Rigel while he was in the shower. For Lyra, it started out as a way to distract her from her grieve. For Rigel, he was vested into the relationship.

When Rigel made a discovery about the scyllas, he knew that he lost Lyra forever.

The discovery of scylla's origin was a surprised to me. This is definitely a game changing on how the theme of the story will evolve in the series. I can't wait to see how the problem of the scylla will be resolved.

I love that Rigel is an honorable man and that he realizes that if he lied to Lyra, there wouldn't be any hope of having any type of relationship with Lyra.

This is one of the better narration of the story done by Rebecca Cook. It might be the story or the narrator's performance or it could be both. I definitely like this story so far in the series.

I was given this audiobook by the author. I have decided to voluntary write an unbiased review of the book. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

Captive of the Deep!

I enjoyed every bit of this third story in the "Lords of the Abyss" series. It is a stand alone read with some connected characters. The story is fast paced and starts out with a bang and ends with an unexpected surprise. This is a good story and I like the different take on Mer folk and Atlantis. I listened to the audiobook of this story and I thought the narrator did a good job reading. This is about Rigel and Lyra. He rescues her after the ship she and her family is on sinks. She is convinced he killed her family and he is the cause of the wreck. Slowly he wins her over but the real push is his lost brothers death. I love how the relationship grows and develops between them. This is a very interesting and intriguing story with drama, suspense, action and very hot and steamy scenes. The chemistry between the characters is off the charts and these two set the pages on flames.

Steamy

Captive of the Deep is a short but steamy paranormal romance with a quick coupling of the two main characters. The storyline includes some side stories to keep the reader/ listener interested in the next book in the series. The narrator did a nice job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I won a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.

Great story

Riegel was so sweet and understanding. I really liked him but was not feeling Lira at first. Bilut she grew on me as the story went on and their romance made for a good installment n the series. It looks like they are getting closer to moving out of the water and I'm looking forward to the next book. The narrator did a good job bringing the characters to life.

Great short book

Creative and Cute. Short not hard to get through. Rigel finds finds a woman, Lyra, during a shipwreck. Rigel saves her and brings her to his underwater home of Atlantes. Rigel is a merman hunter. Lyra becomes Rigel's ward to take care of since he saved her life. Lyra isn't happy about being there at all. Lyra also doesn't know that she is expected to marry a merman. Atlantes is a cursed kingdom and Lyra can never go home. I think the chemistry between Rigel and Lyra starts to change the way Lyra feels. Make no mistake they start to have some hot times together but is it love? Lyra's a strong woman .
