About this listen

An unorthodox arrangement creates the family Sylvia so desperately wants. But everything beings to unravel when a pregnant teen is found murdered. As Seattle Detective Peter Ball pieces the crime together, he uncovers deception and an illegal adoption that threatens to destroy a family and rip motherhood from Sylvia's grasp.

Once again, best-selling author Tess Thompson serves up suspense with life lessons in a captivating tale about the possibilities that await all of us in life and love, if only we're brave enough to accept that it's never too late to reawaken the heart.

GREAT CHARACTERS & MYSTERY

CARAMEL AND MAGNOLIAS is the first book in the Legley Bay series. It is yet to be determined if they will need to be read in the order of publication, but I know that I would love to listen when it is released on Audible.

What I loved about this book was that there was a multitude of wonderful, complex characters that were each unique and expertly described. They each had their own personality that was allowed to shine in their own spotlights as needed.

I also loved the mystery and the realistic lives being lived… the relationships, friendships, life, hope, loss, despair, and love.

There was one scene that was repeated and another that seemed to be in the wrong place in the book; I don’t know if these were production errors or editing errors.

Narration: S.L. Crawley does a wonderful job of providing multiple voices, drama, pronunciation, and production.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy via getfreeaudiobooks.com, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Mispronounced Words

As usual , Tess Thompson didn't disappoint with a great storyline and engaging characters!
That being said, SL Crawley left me annoyed, rolling my eyes and cringing and the many, many mispronounced words. A lot of them were very easy words too! "World wind" instead of whirlwind. "Enuncinated" instead of enunciated. The worst because it was repeated so many times was "monastery school" instead of Montessori!!!
I'll give her credit for voices and intonation but the amount of mispronounced words is unacceptable. Is there no editing in Audible?
