Georges Bizet (1838-1875) wurde bereits mit neun Jahren Schüler des Pariser Konservatoriums und schrieb seine erste Symphonie im Alter von 16 Jahren! Er komponierte zahlreiche Opern und Klavierwerke, und er war ein erstklassiger Pianist. Seine Oper "Carmen" entwickelte sich zum Welterfolg, den er leider verpasste, da er kurz nach ihrer Uraufführung 1875 an der Pariser Opéra-Comique an einem Herzanfall starb.
