About this listen

Can a retired naval commander and the love he left behind overcome a 34-year-old secret to find their way to a second chance?

Captain Mitchell Greyson is a man who believes in duty. A bigger purpose and a thirst to prove himself took him away from his tiny Tennessee hometown-and the girl he loved-more than 30 years ago. After a distinguished career in the Navy, Grey is heading home, searching for new purpose and a glimpse at the road not traveled.

At the tender age of 18, Rebecca Ferguson made a choice that changed her life. Since then, she's had joy, regrets, and an ugly divorce, but she never forgot the love who walked away. She definitely never expected him to move back to town more than 30 years later, or for all the sparks to still be alive.

One look and Grey's all in, determined to earn a second chance at the love he left behind. The duty that took him away is over, but Rebecca doesn't know how to trust that he's home to stay, especially when the secret she's held onto all these years is closer than he thinks...and it has the potential to destroy their fragile new beginning.

Oh the twist in this romance

I love a second chance romance and this one was so sweet. Rebecca and Grey were a secret item 30 years ago but then he left for the Navy and she moved on. Now he’s back and wants to rekindle the romance…but she has a secret that may squash their HEA. Quick and sweet story!

Nice twist and turns

This series was a little different from some of Kaits other series. I enjoyed it very much.
The plot twists were unexpected. The message of the story was refreshing and clear.

Mature romance is my jam!

Grey and Rebecca’s second chance romance was a nice way to wrap up the Bad Boy Bakers series since Rebecca has been a supportive character in previous books and Grey is Jonah’s former commanding officer. As a mature reader I easily connected with this couple’s chemistry, their history and the impulsive decisions that tore them apart 35 years ago. I liked Grey’s enduring faithfulness, his calm and commanding presence, and Rebecca’s rebellious youthful enthusiasm that comes as a surprise to her grown children. I really enjoyed this series and appreciated the narration performances of fan favorite Amy McFadden and Ryan West.
