James never expected his routine cigarette break on a Chicago construction site to be the last normal moment of his life. In a cataclysmic instant, swirling voids rip open the sky, ripping city buses and skyscrapers from their foundations—and James along with them. Flung into a bizarre realm called Gia, he awakens alone and adrift in an endless cosmic void, where even breathing feels like a borrowed miracle.
But Gia is no ordinary alien wilderness. Entire ecosystems thrive beneath a motionless sun, orbiting within an impossibly engineered Dyson sphere. Fragments of cities and other survivors may be scattered across these forbidding landscapes, but James finds no solace—only mutated predators and the echo of half-forgotten cosmic powers coursing through his veins.
An enigmatic, game-like interface manifests before him, promising that each battle he endures will “level up” his abilities, granting superhuman strength and resilience. Yet each fight comes at a savage price, rewarding violence in a place where survival and brutality are often one and the same. Pursued by coyote-lizard packs and colossal serpents, James soon learns that Gia harbors even fiercer monstrosities—and hidden among them, other travelers torn from worlds that have collapsed into chaos.
As he struggles to master his emerging powers and the cryptic system that governs Gia, James grapples with questions that refuse to let him rest. What is a “Mythical Scion”—and why does the Dyson sphere’s watchful intelligence reward his every violent encounter? More urgently, can he find water, shelter, and allies before the next nightmare arrives?
Celestial Drifters: Scion of Order chronicles James’s perilous journey through a realm where the boundaries of science and magic blur into a single, harrowing reality. Caught between star-spanning horrors and the leveling system that has become his only lifeline, James must learn to wield the powers of this world—or be consumed by the cosmic forces that tore him from Earth in the first place.
For fans of cosmic adventure, survival fantasy, and LitRPG grit, Scion of Order is the opening salvo in a series that thrusts ordinary souls into a crucible of otherworldly danger, boundless power, and the unfathomable mysteries that swirl between the stars. Can James discover what it truly means to evolve—or will Gia’s ferocious wilderness claim him before he can even begin to unravel the secrets of his new existence?

I am pleasantly surprised by how not put off I was about the narration. It does have limitations as in a lack in variation on expression and characters and distincuons between male and female and young and old. but overall I cant say it detraxted from the whole experience. The story and writing was way beyond what I expected as I've never read any of his material so 5s across the board for me. I feel that VV has a way to go but I will be less apprehensive about trying it in the future.

My very first virtual voice listen.
