About this listen

"Fast-paced, smart, and action-packed...a real page-burner.” (Chris Grabenstein, number one New York Times best-selling author of the Mr. Lemoncello’s Library series)

From New York Times best-selling author Stuart Gibbs comes the first novel in a thrilling new series about the world’s youngest and smartest genius who’s forced to use her unbelievable code-breaking skills to outsmart Einstein.

Charlie Thorne is a genius. Charlie Thorne is a thief. Charlie Thorne isn’t old enough to drive. And now, it’s up to her to save the world....

Decades ago, Albert Einstein devised an equation that could benefit all life on earth - or destroy it. Fearing what would happen if the equation fell into the wrong hands, he hid it.

But now, a diabolical group known as the Furies are closing in on its location. In desperation, a team of CIA agents drags Charlie into the hunt, needing her brilliance to find it first - even though this means placing her life in grave danger.

In a breakneck adventure that spans the globe, Charlie must crack a complex code created by Einstein himself, struggle to survive in a world where no one can be trusted, and fight to keep the last equation safe once and for all.

We already have all the Moon Base Alpha series, All the Fun Jungle series, and all the Spy school books. So it was a no brainer that we needed to give this series a try. We were hesitant because of the negative reviews of the narrator, but.my 9 yr old quickly pointed out she qas the narrator of our beloved Zero G novel. We were listening at home, not in a car and had no trouble with it other than our dogs barking lol. If you love wiity and educational conversation starters with outlandish mystery/ suspense and 12 yr old heroes, you will love this. Many books geared toward my boys make me want to gouge my eyes out after 1 listen but these I am happy to hear over and over again...which is exactly what happens at our house. My 9 yr old has listed to the other 3 series al least 10 times each! I hope Gibbs can keep this up!!

Another Stuart Gibbs Hit!

After I read others reviews I thought it was bad.The narrator and everything, but when I began I think it was pretty much better than I thought it was and of course I don’t think the narrator has any problem so I think it is best.

Better than I thought.

Fantastically thrilling tale of espionage and science history. Charlie is incredible, daring, cocky, yet endearing.

After having read the reviews, I started listening to this selection intending to listen for 15 minutes before returning it for a credit. The action began almost at once, and, before I noticed, I had been drawn into the story, and I found it hard to put down til the end.

Some of the scenes are quite violent, and might not be suitable for pre-teens. Though Charlie is female, I think that the book might be enjoyed more by a male or mixed audience, rather than by an all-female audience.

Having visited most of the locations in this story, myself, I found the story and locale discriptions to be mostly as I remembered them. I appreciated that there weren't underlying political themes, ie, I didn't feel like I was being subjected to preaching.

Some of the science references were a bit far-fetched, but these were not too common.

I enjoyed this audio book, andI look forward to another installment to the series.

Better than I expected

Gibbs is fantastic as usual, but listening to this book is a nightmare. The loudness difference between narrative and dialogues makes it impossible to find the good volume level. Good volume level for narrative will leave you with ringing ears when dialogues come up. Tune it in for dialogues and you will end up trying to make out almost a whisper for the rest of the story. It’s unfortunately poor technical performance for such a great book.

Great book, poor audio
