About this listen

Lady Catherine Langdon is special, and not because she's the daughter of a duke. She comes from a long line of individuals born with extraordinary gifts, and she is one of the few who has a variation of all three. On the brink of war, she makes a decision that will irrevocably alter the course of her life - love or duty.

Asher Rossington, the marquess of Seabrook, decided at a very early age he would not live an idle life. His father forbade him from being a spy for the crown, but he chose to ignore it. Ash never regretted his choice but wished he could have repaired his relationship with his father before he died. Now, with the fate of the world in turmoil, he has to make another hard decision - remain a spy for king and country or go home and honor his father's title.

The Great War brings Catherine and Asher into each other's lives. Only time will tell if their destiny is to be together or if they will ultimately serve a higher purpose.

Historical romance with some paranormal

I really liked this book except for the sex scene which really surprised me because the story has a sweet feel to it since it is based on romance and not sexual tension so when that happened I was shocked. I felt that it was put in for the sake of it. The book was doing fine without it, I didn't feel it needed it.
I did like some of the secondary characters and the relationship between the cousins, they made me laugh.
There is some violence.

I loved it!

Charming her Rogue by Dawn Brower is a wonderful listen. It takes place during WWI, which I am not as familiar with the time period. I thought the narration by Price Waldman was fantastic. He brought the characters to life. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I found this book to be a great standalone listen and part of a series. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Delightful, charming and touching

I really enjoyed this story, it has a little bit of everything in it from romance to danger and everything in between. I loved the characters, they are so likable and dearing. War is never easy but to start a romance at the beginning of it has got to be hard, not knowing if the one you love is a live or dead. I loved how the author stirs things up, giving a thrill to the danger and making you melt at the romance. The story has so many touching spots that it just makes you sign. It is life or death so much can happen and almost does, there were times I was on the edge of my seat.

The narrator did a wonderful job, his normal voice is a delight, loved his character voices. I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. He gives wonderful emotions that make you hold your breath, and the romance in his voice is to die for. There are no repeating of words, no background noise, and no volume changes. It is a very clear audio that I didn't want to end.

Charming Historical Romance

I received a free copy of this book. I voluntarily left this review. All opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is the 10th book in the series Enduring Legacy. I have not read any of the prior books in the series. In my opinion, this is a standalone book and can be read without reading any of the prior books in the series. Some of the reviewers mentioned that there are character crossovers within the series and it is good to know how everyone fits into the series. I don't feel like a missed anything not knowing the background of every character in the book, however, other readers may find this important and want to start with the first book in the series. Having said that [or written it], I am certainly interested after reading this book to go back and read the previous books.

The book starts just prior to WWI. Lady Catherine attends a dinner where she meets Asher Rossington, a marquee. As they slowly begin to get to know one another and form a bond, they are separated by the War. Catherine decides to become a nurse for the wounded soldiers and Asher becomes a spy. The action picks up during the War, as each character deals with their own trials and with the hope of seeing each other again. I really liked the character Lady Catherine -- especially for the time period, she is a very strong and forthright woman who asserts her opnions when she feels it necessary. Lady Catherine also has a gift for foretelling the future - which was used effectively several times throughout the book to foreshadow coming events.

The narrator, Price Waldman, has the perfect voice for this book. He sounds somewhat aristocratic and utterly charming as he narrates the story.

Something Different

I enjoyed the story and couple very much! Initially I was worried about Catherine's character, but love the storyline. I am very thankful that I was provided the opportunity to read this copy, and provide an honest review. I personally feel I liked the change in pace.

Gripping WWI Romance Between Nurse and Spy

Prior to this book, I had listened only to this author's books that take place in the Regency Era and contemporary times, the latter relatively new to me because I had only known her historical books before. In this book, the author tackles a new time period, and I thought the book was exceptionally well done. The book starts just a little before World War I breaks out and follows the couple's personal and professional travails over a few years, she as an English nurse serving in France and he as a spy. Their meet-cute takes place just before the war breaks out, and it literally had me laughing out loud. Their interactions in that initial scene and throughout are well done. You may even learn a little history about the Great War. As my grandfather served overseas during that war, I have a particular interest in this time period, and I appreciated the sometimes gritty portrayal of what was a horrible time for both sides. Both the hero and heroine become endangered at different points, and because of their duties, they sometimes go for months without seeing each other. Certain parts of the book also had me in tears. This book certainly delivered all the feels! The narrator did a good job portraying all the different people and making them distinct, even if the voice of the hero's cousin drove me a little crazy at times. If you love World War I romances as I do, check out this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Emotional ride

What a beautiful story taking place during the WW I.
Love that great which survives all the awfulness of war. Hurt, death, anxiety, and hope following the main characters through the whole story. Going and coming back to the loved ones. It has been a fabulous emotional ride.

I loved every second and seriously the narration was brilliantly done.

Great Listen!

I really enjoyed the story, it was very well written. There were so many ups and downs, you couldn’t guess how the story was going to end. The narrator did a very good job bringing out the feel of the story, and portraying characters. Overall, amazing!

Makes Me Happy

I have not read any of the previous books in this series and that didn't make any difference, if they are like this one they can each stand alone. This book is not in a genre that I would typically listen too but the cover caught my eye and the blurb sounded interesting and I'm so glad it did. This audiobook just makes me happy. The narrator has a great voice and I very much enjoyed his performance. I am not a history buff nor do I typically read period romance novels but I really enjoyed the WWI setting and what it brought to the story. The loved the characters both main and supporting and all the little side stories peppered throughout the book. I typically listen to longer more detailed audiobooks but this one really is a great quick listen and I would definalty consider listening to more of the authors work in the future. (Exspecially if she uses this same narrator!) I was given a copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Another winner by Brower!

A wonderful love story with the Great War providing a tumultuous backdrop of intrigue and romance.Lady Catherine Langdon is a strong and likable heroine. She wants to be more than a duke's a daughter. She wants to do something meaningful with her life. When the Great War begins, she finds her calling in a nurse's uniform. I enjoyed the magical threads of Catherine's special gift that were woven into the story.
Asher Rossington, the marquess of Seabrook, also wants to do more than run an estate and assume the title. Against his father's will, he spies for the government. And then when his father dies, he is never able to make peace with him. Asher is a hero in the truest sense and fell for him right away.
The secondary character are interesting and well developed. Oh, and I personally loved the cat. Price did another spot-on job bringing this story life.
