This was a privilege to and honor to produce. Claude Duval will by far remain my most favorite and beloved of roles to play. Michelle’s telling of his life was pure literary artistry and mastery.

What an amazing listen! I couldn't turn it off.
So often I'll start an audiobook and one of two things happens: the story is great but my attention span only lasts an hour or so, or the way it's presented makes me decide I'd prefer to stick to the print copy. But oh my, this title did not disappoint me!
As a history buff, I'm drawn to stories (fact or fiction) that give me insight into the lives that people have lived, and while I was familiar with the person of Claude Duval already, I'd never fully understood just how extraordinary a figure he really was. From his creative ability to rise from a child, cast out from his own family with little to survive on, to become a well-dressed, extravagant gentleman in the eyes of society around him (even as he'd cunningly relieve them of their belongings), to his courteous and generous persona with the ability to charm the ladies, the stories presented in this book were highly entertaining and provocative.
Michelle Lowe did a fantastic job of merging history with "his story", and her use of colorful imagery and characters really give the readers / listeners an entertaining glimpse into one of the most interesting characters I've ever learned about. Add that Joey Ortega's narration style and the effects and musical background that fit well with the time period and setting helped to keep my focus, and this title changed my audiobook expectations, as I literally sat for hours at a time, and finished it in two sessions!
Overall, a fantastic experience and I'm glad that I gave this one a listen. It did not disappoint!

Highly recommend this alluring listen
A captivating and charming story, made that much more engaging by the narrator’s incredible ability to transcend gender, age, time periods, countries, accents - by his nuanced use of voice and various intonations. You’ll find yourself wanting to continue listening endlessly, following the hero’s challenging yet fulfilling life over the years, empathizing with his struggles and cheering him on. Excellent work by the author and the narrator.
