Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Excellent audiobook for kids and adults alike!
This is such a cool audiobook for history lovers! As a non-American, I only know the basics of the Civil War, but I have always found it interesting. After listening, I have learned about many new facts, stories, and heroic figures from this critical period of history. I love how the book is written in a way that makes the stories engaging and fun, as it uses the likes of sports games to explain how the events occurred and the feelings and sentiments of both sides. This is where the book shines for younger kids, allowing them to understand better and relate to the stories and characters.
I enjoyed all of the chapters, but my favorite has to be the amazing animals of the war, as I was not aware of these facts, and as a big animal lover, I was intrigued and found the stories entertaining. The narration of the book is also very well done, making the content easy to take in and understand for any age group. Very impressed with this book!

Great way to learn about the Civil War for kids!
What a fantastic way for children to learn about the Civil War! "Civil War Chronicles" has everything you want to know when exploring the complexities of America's most famous war. I thought the book was really well done. Always focusing on how to engage the kids, it was never boring. Even I learned quite a bit! I really liked the chapters exploring different famous people during that time. The author clearly knows and loves history, and you can tell! Well done! The narrator's voice is quite easy to listen to as well.

Civil War Heroes

The storytelling is engaging and easy to understand, bringing the American Civil War to life for kids aged 8-13. It introduces young heroes and other brave adults who faced unimaginable challenges during the war, teaching them important life lessons like never giving up and believing in yourself, while giving diverse perspectives from the Civil War period. Even as an adult, I was amazed by the heroic stories, especially the drummer boy. It's a great way to inspire our children to be strong and real-life heroes. We definitely need more stories like this, more than superhero movies! If your are curious about history, "Civil War Chronicles" is an adventure that will make them fall in love with history!

a modern look at the United States' bloodiest war
This book takes a look at the civil war and really paints the picture of the people of the time. Understand the complexities that led up to the war and how the consequences of the war effect us today. This book takes a unique way of presenting the story that adds it's own unique spin without creating historical inaccuracies. I appreciate the way it actually presents the landscape of the United States at the time and understood this was a war with real character and stake in the war.

Echoes of Freedom!
As a father deeply invested in instilling a sense of history and values in my children, 'Civil War Chronicles: Unforgettable Stories of Courage, Compassion, and Heroism for Kids,' narrated by Elsa Wagner, has become an invaluable addition to our audiobook collection. Chapter 8, titled "Light at the End," proved to be a poignant exploration of the transformative moments that reshaped a nation after the Civil War. Through the expertly narrated tales of historical milestones like the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and the 13th Amendment, my children and I embarked on a heartfelt journey of understanding the profound impact of these events on modern America.
