About this listen
Who do you wish to be? Who does humanity wish to be? This is a question that needs to be answered now.
On leave from her job as a diplomat, Vicki Heywood agrees to spend the summer looking after the kids of a former professor. It’s a no-brainer—the two kids are well-behaved teenagers, she’ll be living in a mansion, and she’s given a Bentley to drive, for crying out loud.
But why did her former professor make sure she still has a Top Secret clearance? Why does his daughter suffer from emotional breakdowns? What’s the real business of the Partnership? And how does a class of tai chi students vanish from a locked room?
Vicki becomes fearful when she learns of a conspiracy involving advanced alien technology, genetic manipulation, and a plan to take control of the lives of everyone on Earth. And that’s just the humans. The aliens have their own agenda.
The vibrational shift will be happening soon. That’s when humanity’s potential will become clear as our supposedly junk DNA is activated. But not if the Partnership can get control first.
Yes, Vicki is scared. And the scariest thing of all is that everyone is depending on her.
Cloud Hands: The Disclosure Files, Book 1 is a science fiction thriller that explores humanity’s near future…or lack of one.
The choice is ours.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

The year is 2072. At the lunar farside radio observatory, an old school radio broadcast is detected, similar to those broadcast on Earth in the 1940s and early 1950s, but in an unknown language, coming from an impossible source, and originating at an equally impossible location—Proxima Centauri. While the nations of Earth debate making First Contact, they learn that the Proximans are facing an extinction-level disaster, forcing a decision: Will Earth send a ship on a multiyear trip to provide aid?

I'm nothing but an orphan, a dragon trainer in one of the many border fortresses. When beasts attack the villages, I ride, driving them back to the hellscape they crawled from. When my adopted brother's killed during battle, I discover who's controlling the invading beasts—the brutal ruler of the neighboring fae kingdom. A gruesome plot is brewing beneath the glimmering fae surface, and he's responsible for it all. Now vengeance is all I live for. No matter how powerful or well-guarded the king is, I will avenge my brother. This I swear.

Conspiracy in the Shadows
Vicki leads a normal life until she stumbles upon a secret she should never have known about: a global conspiracy where alien technology and genetic manipulation are just the tip of the iceberg. As she investigates, she discovers that the fate of humanity is at stake and that hidden forces, both human and extraterrestrial, will go to great lengths to silence her. In a world where truth is dangerous, Vicki must decide whether to stand up to power or live in fear.
Kerie Darner's narration adds an extra layer of suspense and immersion to the story. With her expressive voice, she manages to convey the tension, desperation and wonder of the characters, gripping the listener from the very first moment.

Science “Fiction”?
I’m a sucker for Science Fiction - especially SciFi set in a contemporary setting (I like imagining the “magic” of the story being something that might be accessible to me in real life). In that sense, Cloud Hands is a natural fit for me! Cloud Hands’ protagonist is a young Foreign Service officer who, while on leave, learns of a secret program that …. Whoops! No Spoilers! As one might imagine, the protagonist and her cohorts join forces to save humanity. I particularly enjoyed the fact that science, politics, psychology, spirituality, and psychic development are all key players in the drama — a little Celestine Prophecies, a little Contact. Since Cloud Hands is the first of a three-book series, there’s a bit of a cliff-hanger (though, thankfully, it’s not excruciating). I find myself reflecting on the ideas that Nelson introduces in the story and I’ll be listening to this book again. Cloud Hands was both interesting and engaging. I’m definitely looking forward to future installments of the Disclosure Files Trilogy to find out how everything’s unfolds!

A Thought-Provoking Sci-Fi Journey
Cloud Hands – The Disclosure Files, Book 1 is an intriguing blend of science fiction, conspiracy, and action that kept me captivated from start to finish. Nancy J. Nelson weaves a compelling story around Vicki Heywood, a diplomat on leave, who stumbles into a world of hidden knowledge, extraterrestrial influence, and the untapped potential of humanity. The mix of real-world mysteries and futuristic speculation makes this book both engaging and thought-provoking.
