About this listen

Police Chief Tess O’Rourke’s small town is still reeling from a devastating fire when the FBI asks for help: Could she shelter a witness in a high-profile human trafficking case? Initially reluctant to put the townspeople of Rogue’s Hollow at risk, Tess is swayed after she sees Pastor Oliver Macpherson’s genuine conviction to rescue those in need, a trait in him she’s coming to love more each day.

Tess’ fledgling faith is tested when crews of workmen from out of town come in to assist with the fire cleanup and she worries that one of these strangers might shine a light on things best kept hidden. Neither she nor Oliver knows that Rogue’s Hollow is already home to a suspect from a 25-year-old murder case...and someone is taking cold aim at those Tess is sworn to protect.

I listened to all 3 books in this series and was sad when it ended. Great story line and kept me on the edge of my seat, I could not stop listening.

Best of the three!!!

I just finished the 3rd book in the 3 book series & I liked this one the best, but I enjoyed all of them! They were uplifting, narrated pretty well, good storyline, with creative characters! I look forward to more of this authors books! 🌻

Janice Cantore Does it again! Without bad language and sex scenes.

This series In the Line of Duty is wonderful. Suspense, mystery, and a little romance. Finding the path God wants you to follow and doing it there is not an exact carbon copy.
Tess, The Chief of police, the deputies, Sheriff Steve, Pastor Oliver, and the townspeople know each other especially in a small town. But appearances are not always the whole story.

Full of action & keeps you guessing

I enjoy this authors books. The plots are layered and keeps you guessing and sometimes willing the characters to catch up because the reader knows to much which adds to the anticipation. Although you wonder how much crime a small town can have, the way its brought in isn't completely unbelievable. I enjoy the characters the author creates as well.

Definitely one of my favorites parts is that the author continues to prove a great book can be written without a barrage of foul language and explicit sex scenes - or casual sex or really any. Just some old fashioned falling in love. It's refreshing.

For those who question the Christianity base of the book - It's not preachy. It's brought up at appropriate times and is more thought-provoking than pushing God or religion. It fits into the story and for me enhances it. And relevant in current times.

I also enjoy the narration. She has a good range of voices. For me, the 2nd book had odd pauses and inconsistent enunciation but there was none of that in the 3rd book. I'd look for other books read by her.

I'd like to listen to more and hope there will be a 4th book.

Solid Christian series

Solid series with a Christian suspense theme. I listen to multiple stories a month and I would listen to this again. It is a little slow in a couple spots but I enjoyed it.

A lovely Christian ending

A must read Janice Cantore know law enforcement and Christianity and never misses a beat in any of these venues.

Tess and Oliver and God - a powerful trio. A cold blooded hit man who calls himself Ice never knew what hit him when he met these 3 (with a bit of outside help from an interesting "hermit" - if I say more it might spoil things).

A nice wrap up ending tying up all loose ends - and they get the bad guys! Way to go!

Review of Cold Aim

The story content and narrator were very good. The subject matter of the story was very timely in this time and age. It was very interesting to learn how police work a case. I am very grateful for our police and their protection. Sammye Lee Woods

Disappointed Fan

I like Janice Cantore’s writing, but I could not get into the story due to the performance of the narrator. It is as though she is reading the book for the first time as she records herself, with choppy stops and starts, no flow in dialogue, and pauses mid sentence when she turns a page. I had to return both books I purchased with this narrator because I couldn’t enjoy the story. 😢
