Cold Blood Warm Heart by B.L. Maxwell is a wonderful short story about MM vampire romance. Guy Veryzer did a fantastic job with the narration. Leon is a newly turned vampire whose mate is Ben. Ben wants Leon to spend Christmas with some of Ben’s friends, and to see if Leon has the control needed to be around humans without killing them. The only bad thing is it’s short wish it was longer, but there will be more to the series.

I enjoyed this holiday novella of Ben and Leon's story. We get to know this new couple and to catch up with previous characters. The audiobook for this isn't very long but it was enjoyable to listen to. I loved Guy Veryzer's narration for this.

I truly loved how well this short story explains how Ben and Leon’s story fits into the trilogy. The acceptance of their lives together as mates and the love that they share is great. I am glad that I was able to read this piece of the story and definitely recommend this whole book collection to everyone who loves mm romance stories especially written by BL Maxwell.

I loved the premise of this story, but since it was very short and in between books in the series, not much actually happens. Ben is taking his newly turned vampire mate to spend Christmas with his friends. All the story really amounts to is Ben reminding Leon he can't feed from humans, and has to control his thirst and desire to hunt around them. They get gas, hunt a bear, have one intimate scene, and then meet the friends at the end. That's it.

I would have liked to see them with the friends more and actually celebrate Christmas. This kind of felt like filler in the books themselves that was trimmed out to make the story more concise and then was turned into a bonus story. I'm going to listen to the next book and I think that will give me more of what I was hoping for.

Guy Veryzer did a good job with the narration. I listen to him in increased speed, though, so it doesn't sound so slow.

This was a short glimpse into the life Ben and Leon are starting to settle in. After months living isolated in Alaska’s wilderness, they are venturing among people for the first time since Leon has been turned, and they have to test how much of a struggle it will be for him.

Nice catching up with Leon and Ben.

This was a short little story—took me about 30 minutes to get through—and it falls in the middle of a series I haven’t read. While not knowing who anyone was made things a little tricky at first, it wasn’t hard to get up to speed.

Honestly, this felt like it was set in the Twilight universe. Like, if you told me this started as an MM Twilight AU fanfic, I’d absolutely believe you—and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I think Twi-hards would really enjoy this!

The narration is well done, the story flows smoothly, and the characters have great chemistry.

Short and sweet! Leon finally gets to meet Ben's friends and it just happens to be at Christmas.
I wish we would have had more time with Lucas and Brennan but I enjoyed it.
I think Guy did a nice job with the narration.

This is a bonus short story that follows book 2 in the Consortium Trilogy by BL Maxwell. This story was narrated by Guy Veryzer. When I saw this audiobook on Booksprout I was excited to get the opportunity to listen to it. I love this author's PNR books.

Leon and Benjamin are leaving Alaska and coming back to the "real" world. Leon has been isolated from humans for months and this is his first trip, as a vampire, where he will be exposed to humans. Tensions are high and Ben is sticking to Leon like glue.

It was fun getting to see Brennan and Lucas again, from book 1, as they welcomed Leon into their home for Christmas.

Can't wait to see what this author has in store for us and book 3. Will the Consortium turn out to be on the side of good or evil? Will we get to see Joel again? Inquiring minds want to know...
