These men don't build bridges.... They bury bodies.
I fell for the enemy.
A man whose actions resembled the devil so closely it was sickening.
But I learned from my mistakes.
At least I thought I had.
Until I’m tempted back into his life with a case I can’t refuse.
Cole Torian needs my help.
And I’m unable to deny him.
This time, I voluntarily put my career on the line.
Along with my safety. My heart. My sanity.
I risk everything for him and his family of accomplished criminals.
But succumbing to my tormentor comes with more than a personal price.
Everyone will pay for my mistakes with Cole.
And not all will live to tell the tale.

Positives:
- the male narrator DC Cole was fantastic. I love his voice for Cole and even his female voice was pretty good. The female narrator was good. I would have loved it if they each read the male and female dialogue but I’m happy there was at least a male and female narrator.
- I really enjoyed the story, there was a lot of detail throughout and you really got a feeling for how horrible the antagonist was.
- I loved the dialogue between Cole and Anissa and Cole’s dominance. I couldn’t put the audiobook away as I wanted to know what would happen next.
- I loved the it when Cole comforted her after the dealings with his father, and when he surprised her on the trail in book 1. And when they finally confessed their love for each other.
- I appreciate that all the authors books are on audio right away and I prefer that option as I can get more books in when I listen during my commute and chores. The author also did the extra expense and had a male and female narrator.
Negatives:
- In the beginning of each book, the author wrote Anissa as obsessive, quick to anger and irrational. Very few authors can capture an accurate personality for a female law enforcement officer and unfortunately this author didn’t either. Being assertive, which is needed for an LEO, is not the same as losing your temper/ being bitchy. Anissa also wasn’t the brightest and common sense was non-existent at times. Such as getting on a plane with the head of an organized crime group that she suspects is kidnapping women for sex trafficking. Really? Who would do that??? There is a point where common sense should prevail over your ego!!
- The HEA was not long enough. The climax of the story was very detailed and satisfying but then the HEA was briefly summarized at the end and I was left needing more. It should have been a few chapters so we had more closure. Like how did Cole convince Anissa to stay at his place and move in with him? Did he just have her apartment packed up so she couldn’t drag it out? What is she doing for work now? How is she settling in? I wanted more interaction between Cole and Anissa now that they were together. Another spicy scene at his house would have been nice. Will she get closure with her father and see him again? After all this time the HEA is what we’re waiting for and I feel ripped off when authors cut it short. I need more!!
I will still be giving her other books a try. I enjoyed Remy but found the same issues with an obsessive and paranoid FMC and HEA cut short. I’m hoping the other books will be better.
Great story but the HEA was a few chapters too short.
