College Is a Big Transition--Help is Here

This was a good listening experience. I was impressed by the attention given to the non-academic aspects of being in college--leaving family and friends, realizing you're a little fish in a big pond, figuring out how to deal with roommates, and exploring new places and people.

Some of the issues related to roommates were more explicit than I've seen in other "starting college" guides, such as setting boundaries for when/where roommates could use recreational drugs, how to deal with roommate nudity, and even learning about LGBTQ attitudes and experiences. It's definitely right in line with today's social issues.

The section on changes in the student-parent relationship when returning home for visits was informative and brought up several issues I hadn't considered. This audible book makes a good high school graduation present for college-bound seniors.

Don't let them go without this guide

This is a great guide for all graduates facing their first year in college for sure! It being the form of an audiobook makes it more fun. It has lots of tips but I especially appreciated the advice on navigating difficult roommates and also usual roommate challenges you face even when your roommate is nice, because my niece finds it hard sometimes to navigate socially so this will be particularly useful to her. Good luck to everyone off to college for the first time!

A very friendly reminder for you!

Thinking back to my own college days, I remember feeling both excited and nervous. Balancing classes, homework, and making friends was tough, and living with a new roommate brought its own challenges! I wish I had College Bound back then. This book gives simple tips on managing school and social life. The part about self-care really stood out because I often forgot to take care of my mental and physical health but wanted to show up for others so I could build my social circle. If you’re starting college or know someone who is, this book can be helpful!

Great Book for Teens Getting Ready for College

I bought this book to listen to with my nephew on a road trip before he headed off to college. He found it to be incredibly helpful. It covers many important first-year topics like time management and budgeting, dealing with roommates, and balancing a ridiculously packed academic and social life. The advice is direct and practical and, thankfully, doesn't add to the overwhelming feeling that seems to accompany so many college-bound high school seniors. I especially appreciated the self-care and stress management sections—two things that aren't always discussed. If you or someone you know is going off to college, this book is a great thing to start with.
