About this listen

New York Times best seller.

A New York Times notable book.

This biography by Edmund Morris, the Pulitzer Prize - and National Book Award - winning author of The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt and Theodore Rex, marks the completion of a trilogy sure to stand as definitive.

Of all our great presidents, Theodore Roosevelt is the only one whose greatness increased out of office. What other president has written 40 books, hunted lions, founded a third political party, survived an assassin’s bullet, and explored an unknown river longer than the Rhine?

Packed with more adventure, variety, drama, humor, and tragedy than a big novel, yet documented down to the smallest fact, this masterwork recounts the last decade of perhaps the most amazing life in American history.

Wonderful book, wonderful narrator

I was happy to see the narrator return for the 3rd book. So glad I chose these books.

“Colonel Roosevelt” Is a Superb Biography

TR Roosevelt was a fascinating man and continues to be so to this day. Edmund Morris brings him to life and the Reader gives the listener the sense that Roosevelt is speaking.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Fantastic writing and narration

I am pleased to have just finished Morris’ three books on TR. Finding interest in American history later in life, Morris’ work provided so many fascinating events that shaped our country. Mark Deakins’ narration was incredible. Made me feel like I was actually listening to TR first hand. Well done to both the author and narrator.

The World's Most Interesting Man...

This was an exceptional (and long awaited...though worth the wait) conclusion to Edmund Morris' Trilogy on Theodore Roosevelt.

Book is fantastic, I recommend the first two before reading (The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt and Theodore Rex).

Also, the narration is excellent.

The Trilogy is a must listen to for anyone even remotely interested in history, take the time to listen to the life of someone who could truly be referred to as:

A great biography

If you could sum up Colonel Roosevelt in three words, what would they be?

complex, driven personality

What was one of the most memorable moments of Colonel Roosevelt?

His pain over Quentin's death in the war.

Any additional comments?

I read all 3 books of this biography, and enjoyed them greatly.

I didn't want it to end

Much better having the original narrator back to pay homage to one of the most amazing Man and President to set foot on this great land .

Very fair and comprehensive story of TR

This is by far the best biography series I have read Morris paints a realistic picture of this great man in such way that you are passionately drawn into TR’s history and are freed from the revisionist glasses that so often color the modern reader’s view of the past. You must read all three volumes for the full impact.
The narrator was perfect. His reading made the words jump off of the page and come to life. His interpretation of TR was brilliant. I wish he had been the narrator for volume two but really enjoyed his performance in one and three.

Unrivaled detail. Didn't want it to end.

The man reminds of true masculinity and inspires us to a higher level of servitude.
