About this listen

Maverick Enterprises has been reduced to rubble. Mordecai has fled from Earth. He's ensconced himself in a galactic fortress and surrounded himself with an army of bots.

When Jonah is framed for the attack on Maverick, Maggie must go to Elderon alone. She is determined to clear Jonah's name and stop Mordecai's reign of tyranny, but a stowaway onboard the space station has her own ideas. Even worse, the US military is plotting an attack - one that could kill everyone on Elderon.

To save the colony, Maggie and Tripp will forge a controversial alliance, and Jonah will make a choice that could have permanent consequences.

A slow start and great finish

I'm ready impressed by the unpredictable story line, I'm 3 books into the series, and I still have no idea how it's going to end.

This book did have a slower start than the others, with a few scenes that were undoubtedly of critical importance to the story line, byt still quite boring. Luckily the second half of the book more than made up for it.

Masterful Twists and Non-Stop Action

The Elderon series is very fast-paced, action-packed and the comprehensive research section at the end continues to be fascinating and thought-provoking.. The very real potential for cyber attacks in our time and world-changing but scary technology such as hypersonic missiles are balanced by exciting possibilities such as space tourism.

The possibility of a conglomeration of companies that have so much information stored on you and wondering what could happen if that information was used against you is a current issue and we all face the challenge of protecting ourselves from those who would misuse it.

As with Book 2, my main feedback would be that the pace and intensity of the scenes does not slow down sufficiently to really see the relationships developing. That light and shade gives us the reader a little break plus allows the characters to connect with each other and the reader to connect with them. Also, with the levels of injuries and little to no medical treatment or sleep, I don't see how a normal person could keep going like that. You catch glimpses of the elusive chemistry building between Maggie and Jonah but there is not really time for pause and for them to get to know each other on a meaningful level.

Despite these small issues and the constant irritating serious spoilers in the editorial overview, the Elderon Chronicles is not a series I will forget in a hurry and I highly recommend it. The narration by Jacqueline DeGraff continues to be excellent, helping to bond us to the story and characters. I am really taken with this narrator. Onwards to Book 4.

The 3rd installment doesn’t disappoint!

As the story of not so impossible future dystopia continues you get to enjoy further development of the characters. I love Maggie and Jonah’s pairing and their journey is epic. I am thoroughly looking forward to the next book.
