About this listen

Isaiah as the first of the major prophets, is considered by many to be the greatest of the writing prophets. Isaiah is frequently referred to as “The Fifth Gospel,” or “Gospel of the Old Testament." The theme of this great book can be summed up from a single verse in its opening chapter. "'Come now, and let us reason together,' says the LORD, 'though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.'" (Isaiah 1:18). This entire prophetic book is an overture from the Holy One of Israel to turn from one's sins and come to Him. This is an offer made to individuals as well as to nations. Isaiah is quoted more in the New Testament than any other Old Testament book. It introduces us to the possibility of a personal relationship with God through the "Servant" Messiah Jesus Christ. Someone has said, the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. You can't truly understand the New Testament unless you first consider Old Testament books like Isaiah which are foundational to such understanding. This is an inductive Bible study. The focus is on allowing the text to speak to us. We go first to the text to formulate our beliefs. We observe what God lays out for us in the book, ask questions about what we see, and then come to an interpretation based on the evidence as we answer our questions. We rely on the Holy Spirit to teach us all along the way. Throughout the study we want to discover practical truth that we can apply to life. God invites us to come reason with Him. We answer His call by observing, asking questions, answering them and seeking His help to apply them to our lives. You're invited to join me as we respond to God's invitation.
