Publisher's summary

An educational guide to comets and cometary lore (from the author of two books on Comet ISON) in the form of 101 easy-to-digest ‘longish tweets’ – i.e., ‘bang, bang, bang’, cut-to-the-chase, tightly condensed 101 ‘nuggets of knowledge’. Today’s pell-mell lifestyles prevent many from having the time to learn about new things, in this case comets, from traditional books. So, this is a book that can be read, casually, at will, non-sequentially, for a few minutes at a time. Nonetheless, it will provide a fairly comprehensive tutorial on comets; one detailed enough to make the reader into an instant expert capable of impressing friends and family with beguiling gems along the lines of: “did you know that there was a comet that was bigger than the Sun”, “I just read of a comet that had six tails”, “never realized that NASA has actually collected particles for analysis from a comet in space”, “did you know that Halley’s comet was not discovered by Halley” or “isn’t it amazing that the Jewish Talmud written nearly 2,000 years ago appears to have a reference to Halley’s comet”. The 101 ‘nuggets of knowledge’ are augmented, in each case, with additional data to provided added value. The 101 nuggets are divided into 7 categories: WOW factor, personalities, the characteristics, by the numbers, the greats, exploration and miscellanea. Includes an appendix on comets by Philip Corneille, Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS). The book is likely to contain some ‘typos’ when it comes to spelling and grammar. As many ‘typos’ will be fixed in each Kindle revision. If the ‘typos’ bother you please return the book and get a full refund – rather than complaining about it. Edition 2.2. August 21, 2013.
