About this listen

There's a lot to cover here, ok, first what if the voice inside your head left and became a mop, you ever think of that? of course not, why would you, forget that.

Second! If particles are everywhere all at once until they are observed, then why do we all see the same thing when we observe them, who is doing that, it can’t be us or we would all see something different, who or what controls what particles become when we look at them?

Nigal is about to discover the answer to that question when he stumbles across a secret that’s been hidden under the great pyramids for thousands of years, a discovery that throws his, and everyone else’s life into utter chaos!

“Control Spark” by author Simon Carr

I must admit that I was not sure what to expect based on the cover art alone. However, I truly enjoyed this audiobook and recommend it extremely highly.

The story begins with the listener being introduced to down on his luck Nigel who is unhappily employed at a call center. Nigel had scrimped and saved for a year to afford a trip to Egypt with his then girlfriend. When the girlfriend dumped him shortly before the start of the trip, Nigel ended up inviting his female coworker, whom he was certainly not dating, along instead.

Initially the two embark on a somewhat wacky, but not overly fantastical, journey to Egypt, where they meet an Egyptian compatriot. At first it seems that the tale of the trip might settle down into a simple travelogue but the tone changes radically when Nigel turns down the invitation to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza and instead opts to go, along with his two companions, to some allegedly minor pyramids.

From that point on the story veers into a wildly fantastical and extremely amusing tale that grabbed my attention and held it for the entirety of the audiobook. I won’t spoil the listeners’ enjoyment by giving more details away but I will say that there are bizarre and amusing aliens involved as the story evolves.

The main characters especially are engaging and invoked my interest and sympathy. The storyline is highly inventive and entertaining. The story is also very amusing and I laughed out loud frequently while listening to it.

The narrator is excellent as well.

I can’t recommend this audiobook highly enough and am pleased to have found a new favorite author!

And, if audiobooks are not to your taste, then I would recommend reading the book or ebook.

This is a fantastic audiobook - I can’t recommend it too highly

A wild, witty ride with a mind-bending premise and a mop with way too much personality! Simon Carr delivers a story that’s as chaotic as it is clever, and William Sky’s narration brings every twist to life with energy and charm. If you’re ready for a fast-paced adventure packed with humor, mystery, and reality-breaking questions, this one’s a must-listen!

I was very entertained by this story. I was just amazed at how this author can take a subject like quantum physics and make it laugh-out-loud humorous. I enjoyed all the twists and turns this story underwent. I liked Nigal, who just seemed to be an ordinary fellow whose life became utter pandemonium. I thought William Sky's narration was a great pleasure to listen to as his performance was very entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

I honestly tried. I had about an hour and 40 minutes left in the audiobook and it’s a DNF for me. It was humorous at first that just drizzled out for me. Definitely not for me.
