Publisher's summary

What could possibly set this book apart from all of the other books on leadership?

Get ready to dive into the electrifying world of Corporate Overdose! This is the voice from the middle of your org chart. What are they saying when their words aren’t filtered? Author Jon Law throws political correctness out the window and drops unbiased truth bombs about the 7 deadly sins lurking inside your organization right now.

When the author set out to write this book, he aimed to produce a nearly impossible mix of objectives:

1) Write a book so efficient, that it could be consumed in about 4 hours but impactful enough to fuel growth for years.

2) Center it on a practical leadership framework that doesn’t deconstruct an existing leadership foundation, but builds upon it and is adaptable enough to guide a leader through any circumstance or situation.

3)Meet any leader at any level of experience or development and move them forward in dynamic ways.

To achieve this combination of objectives, he wrote the book in a subtle paraprosdokian style with the backends of concepts open but constructed so that they cause the reader to rethink the front end. Many books in this genre are unidirectional where the author is simply supplying information. Law decided on this unique approach because it promotes a bilateral partnership between the reader and the author. Like other great designs, Corporate Overdose may appear simple at first, so many people will only skim the surface. But others will dare to peel back the layers and discover what it truly means to develop attributes; the profound impact of power base balance; and the confidence construction that comes from having multidimensional leadership styles. And when these elements synergize to tackle the Seven Deadly Sins of leadership, that's when the lightbulb goes off! Suddenly, you realize, "I've got this. There's nothing I can't handle as a leader!"

Beyond brilliant & Compactly insightful!

Every leader, and everyone who "thinks" they are a leader, NEEDS to read this book. Jon Law is boldly brilliant, weaving an intricate balance of research and personal experience into one compact masterpiece of personal development. As Law so eloquently outlines, "Leadership is is not a skill. It is a bundle of skills packaged together and working symbiotically." In his book -scribed with genius flare - you will discover which of the 7 Deadly Sins of Corporate Leadership you are guilty and receive the education you need to actually fix the bad habits and behavior. I found his chapters on cognitive flexibility vs. cognitive rigidity mind-blowing! Light-bulb moment in understanding the remedy to stagnation is the ability to switch between different concepts and adapt behavior in changing environments. Cognitive flexibility is a key skill to enable learning, problem-solving, creativity and innovation. This new-found way of thinking has rocked my world as a Creative Director in the ever changing climate of events and event leadership. On a performance note, the author's read is AWESOME! Soothing bass intonation coupled with expertly crafted charisma results in the perfect prose. And don't skip "About the Author," it's worth purchasing Corporate Overdose just for that gem. This book needs to be on the must-read list for every company that hopes to evolve its leadership.

A thoughtfully quick read with timeless benefits

Cerebral, honest, and concise - this 2+hour listen will positively challenge and grace you with its profound and pointed concepts that extend far beyond the corporate world. A thoughtful combination of revelatory instruction, relevant analogies, and relatable examples interwoven with the author’s personal anecdotes not only make for a fascinating “read”/listen, but also drives a sharp mental stake right through the heart…in the best of ways. I started practicing as many elements from this book that I could incorporate into my personal and professional life (particularly the attributes of leaders) and can already see the beneficial results. Everyone would do better and BE better by reading or listening to this breakthrough corporate/relational/life tome. Looking forward to (hopefully) many more projects from this new, insightful author!
