Publisher's summary

From a philosopher whose magisterial history of Western thought was praised by Joseph Campbell and Huston Smith comes a brilliant new book that traces the connection between cosmic cycles and archetypal patterns of human experience. Drawing on years of research and on thinkers from Plato to Jung, Richard Tarnas explores the planetary correlations of epochal events like the French Revolution, the two world wars, and September 11. Whether listened to as astrology updated for the quantum age or as a contemporary classic of spirituality, Cosmos and Psyche is a work of immense sophistication, deep learning, and lasting importance.

Comprehensive and thought provoking

I am relatively new to astrology and enjoyed the deep dive into cosmic events and how they have played out in our human and historical sphere. Will definitely return to parts of this, as it is quite a lot to digest!

Absolutely remarkable, profound, novel and erudite!

I listen to a lot of audio books, one per week or more. It’s rare to find something so original, well researched, written and narrated. I lack the statistical understanding to grasp the full significance of the correlations Dr. Tarnas implicates, however if it is even remotely as true and uncanny as he elaborates, and elaborates he does, then this is nothing short of revolutionary.

From the most subjective, the psyche to the most objective and infinitely expanding, the cosmos, the symbols and archetypes appear to be alive as well living a life both through us and containing us.

Applause

An Astrological Must Read

If you're ambivalent about the veracity of astrology, you must read this book. The historical astrological references are numerous. It contains an ocean of facts of times present and past that were clearly influenced by the heavenly spheres. He touches only on specific transits, but explains them fully throughout the ages.

Precious study of mundain astrology

Very demanding and very rewarding too. Fantastic book for astrologers and those interested in symbology and social and cultural transformations through the ages.

Compelling content; monochromatic narration

The content of this book is fascinating. However, the narration is really getting in the way of my ability to listen. This is not a performance; it is reading a book out loud. The narrator's voice is monochromatic and he seems fundamentally unengaged with this material. A 25-hour listen requires some color and variation in the narration. I have 22 hours remaining and the material is worth the investment. I just wish that the narrator had done more to enhance the material rather than muffle it.

Voice will put you to sleep.

Content was read in monotone voice that made it difficult to follow because I kept falling asleep.

Lot of knowledge

This book is packed with history dates, and key individuals or movements that impacted the world, or counties, and eras, and the way that planetary alignments coincidentally were forming, and present during, and possessing the archetypal resemblance combined of the planets involved.

what's the point?

I'm 3 hours into this and still don't understand what the hell this guy is ultimately trying to say. I'm going to go for another hour or so and if they don't start taking a specific Direction I'm going to put it down.. do you have to be stoned to listen to this?
