About this listen

On the eve of Fourth of July, they crashed from the sky. An army of beautiful, mighty, bloody perfections. They wrecked the world until he came. Their Commander. And he has a war plan for us all.

Julia - the mortal

I’m scrounging for food in an abandoned Bel Air mansion when an angel catches me - and I try to kill him. Instead of swatting me like a mortal fly, he strikes the ground with his sword...and I’m transported, wounded and alone, to some kind of medieval science-fiction fantasy world.

There must be some reason the archangel - all gorgeous, bloody perfection with massive wings and a deadly kilt - spared me. No mortal is supposed to remember when the angels fell. But I do, and I’m marked with a secret that could turn the tables, and send this beautiful angel straight to hell.

Commander - the archangel

In my world, everything - and everyone - submits to my will. Mortals who retain memories of before are eliminated. I should eliminate this one, too. But something about her tugs at my very soul. So I’ve decided to keep her.

When I discover she’s a pawn, I discover something else about her. She may be mortal, but she’s not weak. And I’ll fight to my last shred of power to save her before her sanity - and her life - are torn from me.

Over the top

The storyline definitely has a different take on angels; not sure if I like it or not, kinda torn. I found it hard to buy into the commander making such serious decisions based on Julia, history repeating itself and not for the good of all. The narrators did a good job with characters. I will continue listening to the series and hope I’m not as torn with remaining books.

Not what I expected, but really good

The story hooked me right away. I think for most people that have see the cult classic angel movies or know angelic story lore will really enjoy this entry into the genre.

This is a pretty classic romance so it really surprised me since my previous experience with Milana Jacks books were omegaverse based. This is nothing like those books. This books is heavy on the world building and character development, light on the sex.

The narrators were good. I wasn't a big fan of Tor Thom, but his voice grew on me and by the end I found it to be a nice balance to Ava Lucas's voice.

Fun but not Milana’s best

A very interesting storyline, however, it didn’t quite do it for me. I felt a bit disoriented at the beginning. I love Milana Jacks and I am obsessed with her Hordesman books, but I just didn’t get along with this one as much.

great story building

I love everything about this book. I was surprised with the concept of angels coming down to remake the Earth. but the story unfolds perfectly, seamlessly into Story number two. very good writing. I believe Melina is at the top of her game when it comes to paranormal Romance

Not Milana’s best unfortunately.

Huge Milana fan here. Have read and listed to so, so many of her books. This one was confusing to follow and didn’t have the same level of humor. Also, although I love Tor as a narrator, I’m not sure he was the best choice for this character. The dry humor didn’t come through. Hoping the next one is better. And that more audiobooks of her different works are made. ❤️
