Difficult to recommend, but worthwhile

There are some nuggets of wisdom buried deep within this book. But not without a price. The excessively nasal voice of the woman reading it made me feel like I was being lectured to by a country club socialite about how to use ebay and the internet. Many chapters seemed to go on and on about getting rich. I found myself finally jumping around chapters to avoid self-indulgent anecdotes. Still, her tips are very helpful and methods are commendable.

eBay guide

I live in a country which doesn’t have eBay (or Etsy) and this book felt like an guise to using that platform for business.

The information felt very specific to that model of sale, so wasn’t useful for me which my craft business.

If it was intentionally a guide for this sales platform then I unfortunately missed it in the write up.

Practical advice

It's a well written book with many great foundational ideas. The only drawback is timing - the publishing date is old enough that some things on internet programs have changed.

Many Important Considerations

This has many important considerations that are not necessarily obvious when starting your business. This book was written based on the success the authors had launching their own craft business; this book has many personal anecdotes to help learn through example. There is also a lot of mentioned resources on where to get the information you need to get your business going. You'll definitely want to take notes.

This book was written by a husband (marketing and admin talent) and wife (design talent). At the end of each chapter there is an interview style Q&A that I wish they used different gender voices to distinguish who is who but otherwise, the speaker was easy to listen to. Using the original authors as the speaker (except when they have a heavy accent) is usually my first preference in a book because they capture their passion. That is my only complaint.

Help the author earn $1K a day

What would have made Craft Business Power better?

The title is misleading. It should be called "How to run auctions on eBay while helping the authors earn more money through the sales of this book". I was expecting information on running a indie crafts and/or fine crafts business, maybe some talk about Etsy, small business logistics, selling at fairs. Yeah, that didn't happen.

What was most disappointing about Jason G. Miles and Cinnamon Miles ’s story?

Jason Miles began losing my confidence early on in the book, when he recounted becoming obsessed with the idea that he could make $1000 or more a day on the INTERNET. Oooooh. Yes, I certainly want to make money in my business, but a craft business is not a get-rich-quick scheme, and I felt as though I'd been duped by the irrelevant content of this book. The reviews on Amazon are probably all from the authors' friends and family (and one of them even says as much), and most of them don't seem to be crafters or artisans at all.
