About this listen

Meet Jim Smith, Jonathan Winters' peripatetic buddy. Regardless of the season or time of day, Jonathan can never reach Mr. Smith by phone...but that's a stroke of luck for the fans of comedy's most beloved genius. This recording is made up of actual phone messages left by Jonathan Winters on his friend's answering machine. The result is a tribute to comedy's brightest mind at his improvisational best.©1995 The Publishing Mills, Inc. (P)1999 Uproar Entertainment, Inc. Performing Arts Comedy

Expecting the genius comedy of Jonathan Winters, I was sorely disappointed. It's said that genius has a "dark side" and this is it. That said, I listened to the entire recording hoping that it would get better. Occasionally, it's funny, but also repetetive and at times, difficult to understand. Perhaps he was over-medicated.

After listening for about 6 to 7 minutes I turned it off out of frustration. Maybe my sense of humor is just vastly different to that of Mr Winters. Sorry to say but I found it extremely boring.

Utterly disappointed
