About this listen

Whose parents abandon them in a trashy trailer when they are five years old? Oh Yeah! Mine do!

Hey Hoochies! I'm Milly, and I am tired of taking kicks to the gut. A broken family, an asshole husband and the loss of loved ones have left me crying Uncle, and declaring a serious case of the F***-Its!

I had my heart broken, stomped on and shattered before I ever started on my journey to find my little piece of happiness. With a bucket list, a '66 Ford and wild dreams, I set out on an adventure that changed my life forever.

I found Cree...

A pirate with a little princess and they swept me off my ever lovin' feet, filling my world with sprinkles, mac n' cheese and the courage to live again.

They forced my fragile heart to trust and love without fear.

But the truth is, nobody's past stays hidden forever. It's an invisible monster waiting to attack and destroy. It has the capability to ruin everything you've worked to set right.

All it takes is one final blow to the gut to end everything...

Good story

Where does Cree rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

While I love the story I had to get used to the narrators voice and style as when I first started listening to it I wasn't sure I would be able to finish. I'm glad I stuck with it though as after a bit her voice fit the Milly to a T

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cree?

When they go to Annie's Kindergarden recital and Milly rescues Annie cause she doesn't have a mother

Any additional comments?

I read both the kindle version and then listened to the audio book. I really enjoyed both versions. Both brought something to the story that made it worth my time.
This was worth a credit. I actually found this book due to my KU membership so finding it on audio was a bonus

Great story!

I enjoyed the progression of Millie and Cree's characters in this story. I got to listen to this during a cross country trip and it was engaging. Another great HJ Bellus story!

Blah blah, hea.

Meh. It was ok. I thought after the prologue it would be great but not really. Rough childhood leads to a nasty marriage for the h. She then inherits all her ex's mother's estate and takes off. She has random hook ups then realizes the man she wants is single. All is pretty perfect until the Hs ex and mother of his child starts calling. The h finds out, he gets pissed at her and assaults her. The h gets mad but takes him back. The hs ex comes back. Blah, blah hea. So like I said not great but ok.

laughing, crying, angry, excited

this short little story packed a lot of goodness, sorrow, pain, sadness, fun, life, death, assault, and more.

Narration did well, but the audio editor should be fired. There are too many spots of repeated text. some were even back to back.

Decent writing, poor narration

I almost gave up on this book a few chapters in because the narrator is terrible. Her voice isn't bad but her inflections are at all the wrong times and places to the point of distraction. However, I decided to power through and I'm glad I did as the story IS a good one. As I got more into the story I was distracted less & less by the narration.

I deCREE this as Awkward.

This story had a good premise, a solid plot, but is not well written. And unfortunately, the narration was worse - her voice is too young and the inflection is all wrong at times. It all just came off as awkward and I think it could've been solved by a serious beta reader and editor.

Wasted time

This story was so horribly written. The narration was equally bad. The storyline and character development was very juvenile. It reminds me of what my junior high students think adult relationships are. The female protagonist was extremely unlikable. She was ignorant, naive, and crass. The author should study up on subtlety. The sex scenes were overkill and didn't add anything provocative to the story. I hated the chapter, "Bloody Toes". It was completely unnecessary. The audience gets that she was abused and neglected from the beginning. The explicit gore is just uncomfortable and does garner more sympathy for her. The narrator should never do adults books again. Her voice was so childish and added to the childish nature of the plot. If I could give it a 1/2 star, I would.
