About this listen

Hello and welcome to my book on Crohn’s, Colitis and Diabetes.

Crohn’s Disease and Type 1 Diabetes are autoimmune conditions; there is a genetic link between them.

There is no genetic link between Diabetes and Colitis; however, there is a synergistic link between Colitis, Crohn’s Disease and Crohn’s Colitis - Indeterminant Colitis are part of a family of conditions known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases – IBD.

In this book we start to understand Crohn’s, Colitis and Crohn’s Colitis, which is not a combination of Crohn’s and Colitis; rather it is a rare form of Crohn’s Disease.

Being able to manage Type 2 Diabetes with lifestyle changes and diet can be a challenge due to some IBD conditions interacting with Diabetes medications – Metformin, and diet create new challenges. Consulting a doctor and a nutritionist familiar with all three conditions is essential to avoid malnutrition and other complications with Crohn’s, Colitis, and Diabetes.

Crohn’s, Colitis, and Diabetes – are all lifelong conditions that continually challenge the sufferer. My book Diabetes Distress and Diabetes Burnout brings together the mental and emotional challenges of my Diabetes and the ways I have managed to control and these challenges.

Adding Crohn’s or Colitis to Diabetes creates a powerful need to have a way to release the struggle. The mental and emotional challenges brought on by monitoring food to avoid gluten and other ingredients that cause IBD flare-ups are very similar to the need to scrutinize food for refined carbohydrates and sugar as a Type 2 Diabetic.

I have found a home in Stoic philosophy, and journalling to reduce and control the inner struggle I feel every day by getting thoughts and feeling out on paper. I offer these tools to Crohn’s and Colitis sufferers and include them here as well as a perspective on Diabetes.

I hope you enjoy and find this book useful.
