As someone who has worked in IT for many years, I felt “trapped” in my particular vertical and longed to transition into cybersecurity without having to start from scratch in an entry-level position. Luckily, I was able to accomplish just that, but it was a complicated process (at least in my approach). If only I had come across this book earlier, it would have been a valuable guide in my planning and journey. I am confident that it will be just as valuable for you in your own journey, or mentoring others in theirs, towards a fulfilling career in cybersecurity.
This book truly covers all aspects of pursuing a career in cybersecurity, from gaining a foundational understanding of the field to tips for finding a job and advancing in your career. The expert authors do an excellent job of breaking down complex concepts and providing clear, actionable advice for listeners or readers.
One of the things I appreciated most about this book was the emphasis on practical, real-world advice. The authors share their personal experiences and offer tips for building a successful career in cybersecurity, including building a strong network, developing technical skills, branding yourself, and growing our community by contributing and giving back.
Overall, I highly recommend "Cybersecurity Career Master Plan" to anyone looking to start or advance their career in cybersecurity.
A Must for Aspiring Cybersecurity Professionals

The content feels like generic career advice repackaged under a cybersecurity label. Much of it is repetitive and filled with "common knowledge" that anyone who has ever applied for a job already knows. Worse, most of the information can easily be obtained through a simple Google search or, in today's world, by asking an advanced AI like ChatGPT to provide it in an organized manner.
As a software engineer with multiple jobs under my belt, I was hoping for something tailored to transitioning into cybersecurity—a deeper dive into technologies, roles, and challenges in the field. Instead, I got surface-level career platitudes that provided no real value. For someone with no prior professional experience, this book might be marginally useful, but for anyone with a tech background, it's unlikely to teach you anything new.
If you're looking for a technical introduction to cybersecurity, this is not the book for you. Save your money and invest in a resource that provides practical, hands-on knowledge or specialized insights into the field.
