About this listen

We are in dire need of a revival. A revival is a manifestation of God’s holy presence in a way that reconciles a wayward church and world to Himself. Sin is on the rise. The quality of life is in decline. Our nation is internally divided along racial, generational, political, socioeconomic, and religious lines. Injustices are multiplying. Violence in the streets is common. Our country is becoming weaker and weaker making us an object of ridicule from foreign enemies as well as vulnerable to terror attacks. We are becoming a more secular, humanistic and hedonistic nation where there is little to no sense of right and wrong. Our government legislates in favor of immorality. Criminals are protected. Victims are made more vulnerable. “Tolerance” is used to promote immorality. Intolerant accusations of hate are brought against anyone who disagrees with the promoted immoral conditions. Marriage, the stabilizing institution of society, is being redefined into oblivion. People are so confused they can’t even decide what gender they are. Some have chosen to adopt a pan-genderism which changes for them with every whim. Unemployment, (despite government finagling to the contrary), is on the rise. People are turning away from God. Atheism has become trendy. There is corruption and carnality in the church. If you seek to live righteously within Biblical parameters of right and wrong you are marginalized, isolated and persecution in increasing degrees is in your future. These are all clear indicators that we need reviving. Cycles of Revival is a study of the Old Testament book of Judges. In judges we find cycles of departure from God, disciplinary oppression, repentance, and then God raising up a judge to lead a revival of the nation of Israel. Some of these judges are very well known: Deborah; Gideon; Jephthah; and Samson. Others are not like Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Tola, and Abimelech and others. There are twelve judges in all and through character studies and looking at their circumstances of life in Israel there is much to be learned about revival. Cycles of Revival defines revival and tackles he questions "What is the way to revival?" and "What hinders revival?" The last chapters of Judges record the low point for the nation of Israel and provide us with 14 indicators of when a revival is needed. Interspersed throughout the book are quotations and comments about revival from some of the most influential and God-used revivalists in history. Revival is a sovereign work of God, but there are also practical principles that better put us in a position to be revived. These are discussed in the book. If you have a heart and burden for revival, if you yearn for a revival for the church and its surrounding community, Cycles of Revival is a must read for you.
