About this listen

Rafe Savaryn is happy. He's in Venice, writing a novel on the Renaissance, enjoying being alone after a devastating divorce. He's trying to answer the question: what makes societies fail? Then a stunningly beautiful woman walks into his life and leads him on a horrifying journey back to the Dark Ages, where the answer to his question is revealed. He is shocked as he must make a choice no one should have to make. I won't give away any more of the plot, but I will say, "Fasten your seat belt! It's a roller-coaster ride of history, suspense, and thrills!" The answer to the question is right in front of you.

Totally Unusual Thriller!

Would you listen to DELTA again? Why?

Yes, the historical detail is so rich and colorful. Obviously, the author has experienced many of the settings in the novel firsthand, and it shows in his writing.

What did you like best about this story?

Jumping all over the globe, the author takes the reader on a wonderful journey through many lands, cultures and traditions.

What does Mark Christensen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's interesting that he does so many voices and accents. He does carry it off well. As they say, you are participating in the "willing suspension of disbelief."

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved his hanging out in Venice. I have visited it many times, and loved it more each time. It allowed me the opportunity to daydream about living there perhaps some day, even for a short while.

Any additional comments?

If you like historical novels, this one is for you. It's thrilling, chilling and of course, has an amazing ending- which I won't spoil!

I have read Currency, Sugar, now Delta. Can't wait for Motherland!!! Good Job L. Todd Wood!.

Don't Listen to the Trolls!

Would you consider the audio edition of DELTA to be better than the print version?

First let me say, obviously the previous review is a TROLL, attempting to discredit this authors work and message, because obviously it pissed him off. Yes, Wood is a conservative author but the book is fantastic-I couldn't stop listening. The Seattle, WA location gives the previous reviewer away. Well, I listen to most of my books in the car commuting so yes I enjoyed the audio version.

IF YOU LIKE PAGE TURNERS, THIS IS IT!

What was one of the most memorable moments of DELTA?

This book is unique-I have never read or listened to anything like it before. There are so many twists and turns, it just wore me out. Stayed up to 3am to finish. I love books like that, when you are put into the story and feel as if you are living it. Bravo!

Which character – as performed by Mark Christensen – was your favorite?

The old man at the end - most definitely my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost did so, so yes!

Any additional comments?

Don't listen to the trolls - enjoy the book!

Another thriller by Wood

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would highly recommend this book to my friends. I travel and Audible is how I take my library with me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rafe Savaryn. Rafe is on a fast-paced journey to find the answer to his question.

What does Mark Christensen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listened to this book in 3 days in the air and travel by rail. Christensen is very easy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Rafe comes so close to the answer to the question he pursues, and performs an "about face"... off on an adventure.

Any additional comments?

Rafe's adventures take the reader across Europe, Russia and the USA. The story has a terrific ending... well, I cannot give that away. Download the novel and listen to it for yourself! We are aware of a lot of changes happening in the world today. One person can make a difference.

A book to read unique story including historical background

Delta a book written by L.Tood Wood. After reading his first two books and being caught for two days without the Internet I picked up Delta and went completely through it in one day. The author is an electrifying writer and this is the story that is both currently relevant and fully historically educational. The novel is brilliantly presented in the authors unique style. He illustrates the ancient and Medieval Eastern religious right with what's happened to the decadent change of the Western influence on the church. The author tells a riveting tale that travels historically through millenniums to present day. The story travels an accurately and descriptively through many cities of the world. Delta acquaints one with a great deal of eastern European history with detailed illustrations of the areas visiting. It is a chronicle visit to the mystical places in Eastern Europe almost as a travel log. Without the Internet one can not put the book down and it's a days passage. I would highly recommend it and when you get familiar with this author you'll seek more of his work.

Thriller

What did you love best about DELTA?

I thought the characters in Currency & Sugar were interesting, until I met Rafe. With a quick turn of events in his life. I was wrapped up in suspense until the end. Wood writes another great thriller.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The novel has a quick turn of events and abundant suspense.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Fortunately I had a long weekend to listen to the book.

Any additional comments?

Wood is a rising star.

Allegory for the day

Food for thought that millions are starving for and simply don't know it. Entertaining. A very good ending for patriots

Prepare yourself for the unanticpated

What would have made DELTA better?

Not downloading it, let alone wasting my time listening to it. A silly concept, poorly executed and a weird conclusion.

What could L. Todd Wood have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Taken a different career path.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Christensen?

Not even Daniels, Hill or Brick could save this from the trash heap. Mark has very little intonation, and this is a shabby performance even by his standards.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed in myself for wasting these hours of my remaining life.

Any additional comments?

Be wary. The author gets on a high philosophical horse at the end of this novel, which is rather off putting considering the poor content in the first 3/4. All around, just an awful offering and definitely NOT worth consideration.
